My GP has said that he will not fund my prescription for nebido injections, do you know how I can overcome this problem? I am moving GP's so fingers crossed that different GP may have a different attitude, but I know of people who have changed their GP's minds....just unsure of how to do this? Any help would be massively appreciated!
I hope you don’t mind but I had a quick look and saw that you’ve gone privately for hormones. Unfortunately going privately means that your GP is not obliged to allow you to have prescriptions on the NHS. If this is just them being awkward then you may be able to overcome this by speaking to the practice manager, however in some area there are rulings that they will not enter into shared care agreements with private doctors. If this is the case then short of moving to a different GP surgery (which it sounds like you’re already doing) or completely out of the CCG there’s not much which can be done, and you will have to pay private prices.
If it does seem as though they’re just being awkward and there’s not an issue with the area agreeing to fund it, then you may be able to change their mind by explaining exactly what it is that they’re required to do, and that it’s the same thing that an NHS GIC would ask of them. Unfortunately there’s no guarantee that this will work though.
