Continuing the family tradition his father founded, Willie Wells currently heads up the new version of The Blue Ridge Mountain Grass. The late Bill Wells, owner of Bill’s Music Shop and Pickin’ Parlor on Meeting Street in West Columbia, established the states premier “home” for bluegrass music more than 25 years ago. Members of the band include Willie Wells, lead and tenor vocals, Dr. Larry Klein, dobro and guitar, Tommy Thomas on bass, David Posser on banjo and harmony vocals, Patrick Russel on mandolin and guitar and Don Ashley on fiddle. All members of the band have extensive experience playing bluegrass music. Most are alumni from previously well-known area bands. Using a unique blend of instrumental virtuosity of the 6 bluegrass instruments, the bands gives its listeners a fun-filled enjoyable experience. They are especially adept with their vocal harmonies. They have previously played at The South Carolina State Fair. Their album, Yesterday Today and Tomorrow is up on iTunes, Spotify and CD Baby. They are currently working on a new album.
