@brningboy asked : he steadily moves his finger across his math sheet, eyes squint a bit, to get a better read. finally after finishing you can pretend a shadow looms over his forehead. ' you got half of them wrong and half of them right. i doubt you could pass the test if you didn't get help. it's not much but i have three hours to spare.' he normally wouldn't offer, since he has errands to run. but he did feel some sort of sympathy for his classmate.
at that , denki makes a loud point of connecting his head to the table . the open page of a notebook black with scrawl smushes up against his lips ; wet ink transferring a light imprint onto the skin there , one of the few problems to see the light of day unscathed . he doesn’t notice . ❛ shit . ❜
one might argue that half right is still better than none right --- and that one is the enabler in him , lackadaisical and frustrating in its tolerance --- but it’s never gonna get any easier to accept the failure that comes at the expense of his damnedest . the blame game doesn’t paint him in a pretty light , and he’s so , so tired of getting caught at the other end of that accusatory finger .
❛ ... i think it’s gonna take a lot more than three hours to hammer anything useful into me , dude . ❜ it’s not exactly a sentiment delivered on a smile , and he’s all too quick to pick up the pieces . phoned - in humor is the spine of backpedaling .
sitting up suddenly , denki begins stretching his arms overhead in this weird , corny display of exaggerated efforts ; it’s not horribly insincere in nature , but the execution has more intention to distract than anything .
❛ ------- SO! maybe we should just go ahead and call it a day then , eh? i mean , i know you’re a real busy guy n’ all , and i really hate to take up your whole sunday runnin’ around in circles here . ❜
a quick glance to his notes . ❛ ... concentric circles . ❜
( see? he was listening . )
