So it has just been made aware to me that my old trading site (atthebarriacde.weebly.com) is somehow still findable on tumblr and people still go on it and shit??? Like NOOOOOOOOOO don’t go there!!!!!!! That’s the bad old site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are newer, better sites to go on!! People who still trade broadway boots more regularly than me!! I playbill trade more than boot trade!!!!!!!

Every trader I’ve seen who had it either was shut down or was only selling (And I don’t believe in selling/paying for bootlegs)

never, ever, ever EVER grab a youtube video and convert it to a .vob and then make it pass as an original vob. don’t. everyone will hate you. seriously. don’t do that. if you got an mp4 on youtube ? you know what that’s fine, some traders will trade you for those or help you get started gladly. but be honest with them that it’s not the original video! for more info abt .vobs and other formats hmu.

find all the info you can about the shows you have! exact date, full cast, everything you can find! try to review them youself too, but mainly date/place/cast info is really really important. dont just go up to someone like yo i have cinderella can i get something else, that wont work. 

if you have a show and no info for it ? no big deal ! google the info you have + weebly. say you have that cinderella bootleg and recognize laura osnes in it ? google cinderella + laura osnes + weebly and you’ll see there’s two boots around with her. now on the weebly blogs you’ll often find screencaps ! use that to find out what show it is that you have ! if you can’t figure it out, email someone who has both shows, send them some screencaps from yours and they’ll probably be able to help you. or hmu with that and i’ll help you i can do that

respect the masters. respect nft dates and mentions. respect other traders also.

you can choose to buy or not to buy. that’s your choice. but in general - buying directly from the masters is better - it might be a little expensive but hey, you’ll be getting a show before the NFT date - read: before everyone else. some cool masters are sunsetblvd79, with a whole website full of release, sjbernly, who now only releases privately but also offers bootlegs in blu-ray/HD format ( if anyone would like their email let me know ), and there’s a bunch of others who don’t release as often. once again i insist, respect them and the nft dates or rules they set. if they say don’t upload a boot to youtube or a public website, DON’T DO IT. it could seriously endanger them. if they ask for money, it’s to be able to keep on seeing and filming shows, so don’t be a dick about it, if you don’t want to pay fine, but wait till AFTER the NFT date.

most traders will gift you a few things to get started if you email them and talk a little. just be nice about it, write a cool email not just ‘ hey, give me stuff ‘

keep a list ! whether you keeep it on a document or a website is your choice but keep an organized list and update it as often as possible. if it’s public, make sure your contect info is on it so people can come up to you about it ! that’s the point of public lists. 

if you have playbills or other theatre related stuff, hell, even cast recordings, to trade, most traders with boots will be glad to take that in return. i know i sure would.

you have nothing but know how to track audios ? most traders will be glad to give you some stuff to get audios tracked!

check audio gifts blogs ! honestly there’s like. so many audios you can find on tumblr to help you get started, and for most people 2 audios can get you a video. just ! dig around a little ! make some effort, and you’ll see, getting started will be easy ! okay first go here tumblr.com/tagged/audio-gift - also, here ! chrissy is an angel

if a trader states they’re closed to trading on their home page, they’re closed. don’t email them. it’s only annoying.

no this for that trading. nobody likes it. send your full list to someone you’d like to trade with

try to build a collection of a specific show or two ! if you only get stuff everyone has, trading it out will be tough. if you get specific and start getting some rare stuff from your favorite show, you’ll have unique things that people will want easily on your website ! 

download your things honestly! megaupload going down has taught us all not to trust online hosts, because you might lose it all. when your computer starts getting a little too full, maybe invest in an external hard drive ( i have four ok, that’s becoming a problem ), or in dvds to burn all that down and make sure you’re not gonna lose anything if your host or many links go down. this is something i forgot to do for a long time, and trust me, after losing a few worthy shows or rare things, i’m really regretting it.

be respectful ! be kind ! in general thats the best rule to go by around !
