Broken Bindings || Faith & Roman
Classes ending for the semester seemed like a blessing to everyone, including Roman. The ball was a fun reminder that everyone could stand to let loose for a while. Unwind until the summer classes started for those who were taking them. There was a surprising amount of people taking them this time around, Roman thought as he was running a trail through the surrounding forest. Though he had never stayed for the summer classes, this was his first year doing them and hopefully the only time he had to since it was his last year. He knew that he couldn’t let up in training though, he was aspiring to become an auror and he knew that if he took the few weeks off from being active and keeping himself in shape he was going to regret it the second that classes started up again.
After what seemed like too long without the comfort of music that he had to leave in his muggle apartment during spring break, he came to the realization that he should check just how long he had been running circles around the castle alone with his thoughts, which usually turned out to be rather dangerous in the past, or at least left him aching for something more entertaining to do. Things were finally starting to slow down, he was still sentenced to cleaning the Wallkill common room but thankfully he only had eleven days left of the punishment; not that he was counting the seconds until he would be released from it. He had to squeeze in time to go out and take care of his body, though it was mind numbing and usually found himself thinking of everything else that he had to do instead.
He was jogging at a fast pace, determined to keep himself at a steady speed nearly the entire time until he had to wind down, but until the hour was up he kept a watch folded up in his clenched fist so he could look at it every ten minutes it seemed, hoping that time was up with each glance. He had tugged it out, flipping it over so he could see the face of it clearly and huffed heavily when he saw that it was reading the same thing that had the last two times that he had looked. He had thought the first time that it was just him jumping the gun, and the second time he might just give it a chance to kick back into gear but third time was the charm. In normal Roman nature there was no time to stop and inspect the thing with great detail, instead he kept moving forward while he banged the thing against the palm of his other hand, not looking where he was going since he hadn’t seen many people along the path he had chosen to take. Unfortunately for the both of them, he was sorely wrong in that.
He had slammed into a body that he hadn’t seen coming, figuring that he would have heard anyone he was coming up on, but didn’t quite anticipate the quiet girl that he had ran into in reality. He looked up immediately when he felt hard contact against him and dropped the watch all together. He only had a moment to react to the small girl, but he had just enough time to register that she wasn’t a threat and there was a possibility that he was going to send her flying to the ground with his body weight. “Shit!” He shouted and reached out to grab her before there was a chance that would happen and halted to a stop. Sadly, he didn’t have enough hands to also grab the book that she was holding from getting flung onto the ground and into the gooey mud to the side of the paved path. Once he knew she wasn’t going to end up on the ground he let go of her and looked at the mess he’d created from not looking up from what he was doing. “Fuck, I’m sorry. I wasn’t looking where I was going.” His eyes went from the book that he now saw some sketches in to his watch and the short blonde and immediately felt guilt sinking into his chest.
