(*continued from here for @brokenblondeprincess *)
He wasn't trying to gaslight her. He hoped to point out that her worrying wasn't matching their initial deal - the way to operated as a couple. Because they never were meant to be an actual item. Both too focused on their own survival.
Now after Kit broke down into openly stating the fact - El exhaled once more. Now stupefied by the reality this motel was bringing. It wasn't a singular survival anymore. "Coffee is getting cold." He took one of the cups to hand it over to her. He was clearly stalling, searching for better words. "You think it would be better if we moved and I found less dangerous job for the time being?" He could do that. They could stay somewhere even further away for a month. He was strong, knew how to fix a car. He could take care of Kit. But neither of them was ready to hear him speak out the last thought out loud.
After taking the cup and her posture somewhat relaxing, she sighed. “It’s not the job. The job is okay, I know you can take care of yourself but.......if they found us El.......”. She didn’t need to elucidate on the ‘they’, the both of them were well enough aware of the people who were looking for them and how dangerous they were.
“....and when I don’t hear from you for hours and I’m stuck in this horrid, filthy shithole, my mind wanders, I start imagining all sorts.....”. Good God, she sounder like some nagging fishwife, just like her actual husband often used to term her. No doubt Jasper was having a good laugh at her expense from his spot amidst the other dead rapists, murderers and molesters. Eternal damnation really was the ultimate karmic retribution.
“I just......was worried” she repeated.
