Reading the new Chapter the thing Doflamingo said about betrayal worries me a little. I can't shake the feeling that someone close to the strawhats might betray them at some point. And what the hell is up with Sanji's wanted Poster? The first thing that came to mind was that maybe he is the long lost child of an important marine. Or he might be the one to betray luffy & co. Interesting Chapter that brought up many questions.

Anonymous said:what if sanji is the son of the blonde gorosei since gorosei means 5 elder son and there was a line that ussop said sanji was born under a miracle star and this could be a form of foreshadowing or a shoutout to that statement to turn out to be actually true
brokennames said:Sanji predictions: it’s going to be another joke. While Luffy and co. were off fighting Mingo, the rest of the SHs had their own adventure, and somebody incredibly important fell in love with Sanji, so he gets the special Only Alive sticker. Everyone in the audience will roll their eyes and hope Sanji gets some real character development at some point.
Anonymous said:Sanji’s new wanted poster does bring up a lot of questions about him being nobility or a celestial dragon, but what if it’s like him with Duval? Maybe this time he’s being mistaken for someone else, rather then (ex. Duval) being mistaken for him. Unlikely, but it could be possible. After all, this is pretty sudden (as he’s had a wanted poster for about 2 years and this just happens)
Anonymous said:I’m with you on not wanting Sanji to be yet another blond secret noble/celestial dragon. However I’m terrible at thinking of theories and I’m not sure what other possibilities there could be for the “only alive”. Do you have any ideas?
Anonymous said:Do you think Sanji’s ‘only alive’ bounty status may be because his picture resembled someone else again? Would Oda repeat that joke again you think?
misshapensharks said:Some people suspect Sanji may be the son of, or related to, the seemingly younger blond Gorosei which is why he of all people is wanted only a live, compared to say Doflamingo who was a Celestial Dragon or Jewelry Bonney who has an unclear relationship with the WG, if we assume they were wanted dead or alive. What do you think about this idea? I’ve also read speculation he may be royalty from the Lvneel Kingdom.

I have already written most of my thoughts on Sanji and his wanted poster in my chapter reaction, HERE.
Okay, where to start… First up, it was never stated whether or not Sanji and Zeff were in the North Blue or East Blue when Zeff attacked the ship Sanji was on. However, it was most likely the East Blue already. First up, once Sanji and Zeff were rescued, why would they travel all the way to a different sea in order to start Zeff’s restaurant? Travel between the Blues of the OP world is extremely difficult. The North Blue and East Blue are separated by the Red Line, and there are almost no ways to cross it. There is a lift that people can petition the Government to use that cross through Mariejois, people can sail under it through Fishman Island, or people can climb the entire thing by hand, something only Fisher Tiger himself is known to have ever done. There most likely is at least 1 or two other ways to cross it at other points, but for the most part you just do NOT cross the Red Line. And it most likely would be government controlled, and Zeff is still a wanted pirates. He couldn’t just waltz through an official route over the Red Line with a huge back of stolen treasure and not get arrested. It’s almost a sure thing that Zeff and Sanji were already in the East Blue when they first met. And second, Sanji said he was raised in the East Blue. He was 10 at the time when he met Zeff, and i don’t think he would have said that he was “raised” in the East Blue if he only moved there after he was already 10 years old. If he were still in the North Blue at that point, then he would have spent more of his life in the North Blue than the East Blue.
Well, that explanation went on for longer than I thought it would. Back to the wanted poster thing! Here is what I’ve already said on the subject:
We JUST got through with an arc that had 2 secret Celestial Dragons and a secret D. in it, and now we’re going to turn around and have Sanji be a secret noble or secret Celestial Dragon too? Yeah, I’d rather not. And we already have Sabo, ya know. Do we really need another blond runaway child who is secret nobility? Enough with all the blond characters being secret nobles.
What kind of prince or Celestial Dragon gets put on a ship out at sea (which is often dangerous even in the East Blue, the most peaceful sea in the world) to learn to become a cook?
Because really, why in the world would the son of one of the most powerful men in the world just get stuck on a run of the mill passenger ship as an apprentice cook with 0 protection? Same goes for if his family is royalty in the North Blue, or if his father is an important Marine or person in the Government. The same thing goes for all of them–why would any of these important/powerful/rich people stick their son on a ship as an apprentice cook and just let whatever happens to him happen? They would never ever do that, so if Sanji is any kind of nobility or the child of someone with political power, he would have to have run away from home long before he met Zeff. And if that is the case… then how is his story any different from Sabo’s? We already got exactly this same thing from him–unhappy blond child of influence runs away from home because home sucks and he wants to be something different. That’s why this seems like such a lame idea to me, since we’ve already gotten it before.
And the idea that someone is in love with Sanji… that also doesn’t seem likely. They would have to be SERIOUSLY rich and powerful to be able to bribe the Marines/WG in order to make him wanted alive only, just so that they attempt to get with him. Him having important family members would be a little more plausible, since the idea of “I want my son back alive” coming from some rich nobles is something that the Marines would be more likely to listen to than “I wanna do that wanted criminal cuz I saw 1 picture of him” from some rich person.
The chance that this is all a big joke is a little more likely, whatever the joke might be. I can’t even imagine. Maybe it is a mistaken identity thing and Sanji’s all prepped to have a big reunion with his parents and then they meet and it’s just like “…who are these people?”
I know people are desperate for some actual character development from Sanji, but it’s currently hard for me to get any kind of hopes up. His sexism and transphobia is such a problem to me that I just do not care about him anymore, and honestly any good things that do happen with his character just make me more frustrated because it encourages fans all the more to just defend or excuse those BS parts of his character and pretend that they are OK. I don’t know where Oda is going to go with this. Maybe it will be a big joke, or maybe it will be a huge plot point and Sanji will be the son of a Gorosei member or royalty from Lvneel. I dunno, and I dunno when we’ll find out either. Could be this week, could be 2 years from now. We’ll find out eventually.
Oh, but to respond to the 1st person’s ask… No, I don’t think that this is going to be anything that leads to Sanji maybe betraying the crew. With everything that they’ve been through, there’s no chance of any of them betraying each other. I am anticipating them making alliances with people and getting backstabbed at some point, but not by each other. The only times that they actually have been betrayed by one of their own, it was by Nami and Robin and they were being forced to do it for the sake of others (Nami was trying to save her village, and Robin was trying to save the Straw Hats themselves). There’s no way Oda would have Sanji betray the Straw Hats just cuz his dad told him to or something. Sanji was willing to DIE for the crew on Thiller Bark–he’s not going to be a traitor unless it’s to save their lives or something similar (aka, not a true betrayal).
