I’m reading Brokenomics right now - it came up as a wrong result when I was searching for something else at the library website, looked interesting, and since it cost nothing to check it out, I did. This is the first personal finance book that I haven’t wanted to throw across the room before finishing chapter 2. (Hint to personal finance writers: If you start your book with the assumption that I can save $5 a day by cutting out a fancy coffee, then compound that error with the assumption that I can put that money in my savings account and earn 8% interest on it, you’ve already lost me. I’m not going to bother turning to page 2. You’ve already shown you don’t understand me and the world I live in, so I’m not going to waste my time on you.)
I’m only about 10% of the way in, so I can’t tell you how it ends, but so far, Gachman’s idea of starting with examining and improving your psychological situation with regard to money really seems to be resonating with me.
