shiro really hates these things. but parties aren't bad for morale on all ends. and not separating the lions during a big event turned out badly once-they learned their lesson. no one said he had to do more than be there physically, wasting time talking to black and keeping an eye on things.
like jim who was on par with keith when it came to finding trouble. or trouble finding him. regardless if the other paladin could have handled it, and was being a dick about help, shiro would sooner turn in his bayard than let something like that pass. he'd already been circling the feast out of innate paranoia. alteans had their god awful alcohol, but allura would never allow anything more.
"it's not always about you, y'know." he's not even looking at jim, glaring at the leaving alien's disappearing hackles. "don't go anywhere-and don't do anything stupid." an unlikely outcome. jim could take care of himself in the mean time as long as he made half decent choices. shiro flicks two fingers at him in the standard 'i'm watching you' motion before he bounds after the wolf.
black disagrees with his decision. set an example, make good choices. don't deck people they were supposed to be allies with. too late. "hey! dog." there's a reason he normally left the diplomacy to others. he's perfectly capable of being as impulsive as the one he just ensured didn't get into a dangerous situation.
he has no good quips in the moment. nothing about lions versus wolves or didn't their mother ever teach them to take no for an answer. burning metal sears fur as soon as shiro catches up, indenting a perfect hand print into the alien's coat. "i think you should leave. she'll escort you." the largest lion's head is overhead, looming with bright eyes and bared teeth. they both thoroughly enjoy the sight of the suddenly very busy alien with things to do.
