It's Christmas eve, which is a bit of a... big day for my family. It's my late Pop's birthday and the anniversary of my Nan's passing. Nan loved Christmas, and Pop loved birds as well as Carol of the Birds, an Aussie Christmas carol. Brolgas, the birds in this picture, are the first birds the carol mentions, and are known for the indicate dances they do with their mates. Originally, this drawing was going to be more complex with all the birds from the song, but when I realised this picture was scheduled to go up Christmas Eve, having just the two dancing brolgas felt like a more fitting tribute to both Nan and Pop. Anyway, Merry Christmas to those who celebrate. [ID: A digital illustration of two brolgas, large white cranes with red heads and long grey legs, dancing together in a shallow river. /End ID]
