I pledged to myself in a previous post, "Yes, I have chronic rejection. Yes, I have CVID. JRA. Auto immune disease. Gastoparesis. Immunehypogylcemia. ETC. ETC. My situation is "complicated." ..... ๐ท๐ค๐ค But, I'm going to go on adventures, anyway. Despite all that! They may be small to others, but they'll be mountains to me. ๐๐๐๐๐". Immediately after my transplant, I was afraid of doing something that would harm my new lungs in some way and invalidate the sacrifice of my donor and his or her family, my transplant team, my family, all who in the end helped to save me. I didn't want to disappoint them. The fear of doing something wrong prevented me from doing many things. I think it is a sort of "Rite of Passage" when a patient finally overcomes this self-doubt. It takes longer for some than others. I've taken a lot longer than to heal both physically and emotionally. But now that I am beginning to do so, I have started to go on my Mountainous Adventures (see picture above๐.) Sometimes you happen meet giant stuffed animals. Sometimes that stuffed animal is a hot pink dinosaur. My advice? Take a picture with her (or him, depending on the eyelashes!) You may NEVER get this chance again! Nowadays, I find adventures around almost every corner. They're not mountains, to be fair. But , they're not as scary as before. Instead, they are exciting and beautiful and amazing. And sometimes they come in the form of a hot pink dinosaur in a grocery store.
