My Review
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Starting a new Bronwen Evans book is always an emotional experience for me, with stories that are forever touching my heart, with the kind of love that makes life worthwhile. Filled with wonderful, interesting characters that are unique, complex, and that have a way of wrapping themselves around my heart.
Widowed Charlotte Dexter, Lady Clayton, is needing desperately, to have children to love. Forced into a loveless marriage the first time, she is determined to do the picking this time around. So she decides to have a house party with a few select men that are in need of a wealthy wife, hoping that by the end of the week, one of her guests will be her fiancé.
Marcus Roberts, Duke of Sinclair, has suddenly found himself in quite the predicament. He needs to find a bride who can give him sons. So he agrees to accompany his friend Devlin to Lady Charlotte’s house party, to offer his support but also hoping that one of the ladies in attendance will be agreeable to a marriage of convenience only. Sin is unable to trust and is determined to never open his heart to another again, after his first wife’s betrayal with his brother, that ended in a scandalous murder-suicide. So imagine his shock when the only woman in attendance is a widow who is rumored to be barren. He really should leave but after getting to know Lady Charlotte suddenly the idea of any of the other men marrying her brings out his jealous side.
But when one of the men from her party is murdered, the hunt for the killer brings out Sin’s protective side and their attraction and trust grows.
Charlotte and Sin’s story had me grinning from ear to ear, and swooning hard for this unlikely couple. I was all in from their very first encounter. It was so much fun watching them trying to fight the attraction between them, as Charlotte looks at the other men to find a favorable husband. I loved their scorching chemistry and the sexual tension between them.
Every scene, every word written, every piece of the puzzle, that I want to get answers to, played with my emotions.
I felt their joy, their heartbreak, their loss, their attraction, and the love that emitted from the pages. I struggled to put this down just because I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.
This was a beautiful romance, with a unique and totally different storyline, stunningly, beautiful, descriptions and characters that will completely captivate you. This is must read book you don’t want to miss.
