We'll All Float On Any Way || Brooke + Evan
Evan itched at his arms, staring down at the clear overly chlorinated water, wiggling his toes as he tried to settle his rushing pulse. He missed swimming, he stopped the team when he started losing weight, when his arms stopped being covered in doodles of cats and cute boys, and started baring the result of the guilt that tore at his mind. The room was silent, as was most of the school, and taking a deep breath Evan jumped into the too cool water, skin prickling in protest as he swam towards the end of the pool, the side opposite the diving boards.
He started off slow, working his way back to elementary school and sixth grade, his shoulder rolling stiffly. He should've stretched, it didn't help that he hadn't kept up with his yoga. He turned his face into the water, having to come up for air more often than he should have had to. He hadn't been in the water in years, and he knew it'd take weeks for him to get used to it again.
He didn't know how long he had been going for, he knew he was on his twelfth lap though, and he felt his bones slowly melting, his arms stinging painfully as he stretched them over his head, propelling his body through the water. The sound of the door opening had him ducking to his chin beneath the water, paddling to the side as he hid himself from the invader. When he recognized the face, his nerves didn't lessen, and he simply let out a confused squeak. "Brooke?"
