the second youngest of the palermos , she’s never been particularly interested in getting involved in the family business , but has feigned some.
she’s not even biologically related to them. her birth parents are michael & esther arnow , two cops. both of whom died when she was just a baby at the hands of the palermos. rina was soon taken in by them. & as much as she loves them ( don’t ever tell them that , though ) but knows she doesn’t truly belong.
she’s always made the point of making it on her own , without them & their money. ( ironic , in a way , now that she’s profiting of them partially with her podcasts )
she has been fascinated by crime since she was just a child. serial killers , bonnie & clyde , mobsters , anything. & more than most , the crimes of her family.
she started the podcast just under two years ago & it’s grown a little since then. it features a range of crimes , from serial killers to her dear old family’s business.
it was this that lead her to more information about her birth family & their death , leading to articles upon articles & files eventually finding evidence that hinted towards the culprit. she doesn’t quite believe it , yet , everything points towards the palermos.
she’s been off with her parents ever since deep down , not sure what to think or believe , getting closer to them than ever before. she’s been getting more information about the crimes by feigning interest in the family business. she’s trying to get a hold of anything she can. a lot of which , she keeps to herself , waiting to use when the right moment strikes.
she’s always been good at reading people , understanding what makes them ticks , knowing when something is up. & that comes in handy. not just when it comes to getting things from people ( especially her parents ) , but also knowing when a friend is in trouble.

She was born in Singapore and moved to New York when she was seven.
She was the middle child - two brothers, one older, one younger.
Her parents were pretty hard on all of them - they were free to pursue whatever they wanted, but they were expected to excel at it, without exception. Ziyu figured out pretty quickly what her strengths were - she was good with words, she could charm and sweet-talk and manipulate with the best of them, and she was attractive - and she used those to her advantage.
She started modelling when she was sixteen and was pretty successful - she started out mostly catwalk modelling before moving to commercial modelling. That’s how she met her husband.
She got married to him mostly out for convenience and all the practical advantages of doing so. She likes him as a person, but she’s not in love with him and never has been. She’s had a couple affairs on and off - mostly with women, once or twice with men - but amy’s the first lover she’s had that she really, genuinely cares about and wants to be with.

🎒 dylan is a very earnest person! i know this is a word i use on this blog a lot to describe him, but, i think it is very accurate to his character. just to be on the same page, i use the google definition of earnest when talking about dylan, which is, “resulting from or showing sincere and intense conviction.”
🎒 dylan is just a very strongly opinioned person but is open-minded enough to change his philosophies on the world frequently. he very strongly believes in his opinions though, and while he does not force them on others, he forces himself to think about his own beliefs very often, resulting in the earnest boy you see today!
🎒 dylan is very fashionable, he studies fashion outside of any other school studies he does, and uses any money that he earns on new clothes and making some clothes! he has a few pieces he has made himself and has even been known to make one or two things for friends and family. for example, if he sees an outfit that reminds him of someone, or if he just sees anything inspiring, he will often make something original for the person in his life he thinks most fits the outfit.
🎒 dylan badly wants a dog and has been trying to convince everyone in his life to get him one. even during christmas, despite him being nineteen, he hopes that one day he will open a box with a little puppy in it.
🎒 dylan was actually born in dallas, texas, but after being fostered by a private home for the first time, he moved to brooklyn due to that being where the lesbian couple was, and after they gave him up he stayed in a foster house in brooklyn until the zimmermans took him in.

Penelope is super shy, most times sticking to the corners of rooms and doing their very best to draw as little attention to themselves as possible. While part of them really wants to reach out to other people the fear of being rejected terrifies them enough to not even try most times. Because of this, most of the friendships they actually do have are very strong with Pie being extremely loyal to them.
They are also a huge pushover though, with people taking advantage of their kindness pretty often.
Pie is absolutely obsessed with film, from everything from the production side of it to the psychology of it too. They have a particular interest in noir films, mostly because of it reminds them of their father.
They are currently studying film in school, wanting to make their own and then eventually to become a professor in it eventually.
They are working on being more outgoing, deciding that now that they’ve started college its the best time. So they’ve started attending parties and going to more social functions to reach out to new people.

she couldn't be their perfect daughter any longer ; no more fake smiles , pink dresses & hand picked boys to date .

she knows her parents expect nothing less than excellency from her , knows the dreams they have for her , & knows that her going to a university and getting a degree is unquestionable to them , but she is going to dodge their plans for her as much as she can .
