Waylon Jones, the villain and former professional wrestler known as Killer Croc, had numerous violent altercations with The Batman.  Yet it was his battle with the mercenary known as Bane that nearly ended him.  Mercilessly beaten by Bane, Croc remained in intensive care for months.  The process of his healing appeared to intensify the congenital mutation that gave him reptilian features; thus leaving him appearing even more like a human/crocodile hybrid.  

Following his convalescence, Croc was made to stand before a competency hearing where he was deemed sane and had his incarceration moved from Arkham Asylum to Stonegate Penitentiary.  The police convoy transporting Croc to Stonegate was sabotaged by Mary Louise Dahl, the villainess known as ‘Baby Doll.’  Dahl had come to feel a great kinship with Croc, seeing them both as victims alienated by society over their looks.  Dahl felt compelled to free Croc and succeeded, whereupon the two fled to a makeshift headquarters in the sewers below the city.  

Dahl’s brains and Croc’s brawn made for a formidable combination and the two embarked on a crime spree that garnered the attention of the press, who dubbed the pair ‘Gotham's Bonnie and Clyde.’   The two managed to stay a step ahead of the pursuit of Batman and Batgirl, yet Dahl was broken-hearted when she discovered that Croc would sneak off to go philandering with other women.  

Unhinged and enraged, Dahl orchestrated a plot wherein Croc believed they were going to take over Gotham’s central power plant as part of a ransom scheme.  In truth, Dahl planned on blowing the plant up and taking her and Croc with it.  Fortunately the suicidal caper was thwarted by the timely arrival of Batman and Batgirl who defeated the two villains.  Croc was sent off to Stonegate to serve his term while Dahl was remanded back to Arkham Asylum.  

Actors Aron Kincaid and Brooks Gardner provided the voice for Killer Croc, with the villain originally appearing in the twenty-first episode of the first season of Batman: The Animated Series, ‘Vendetta.’
