Broom Elsewhere!
I was talking with my mom this afternoon and I asked her what all of her books on “responsive classrooms” were about (she’s a reading teacher). She told me it was basically showing kids what they do right rather than what they do wrong. That of course made me think of this scene from the 7th season of Who’s The Boss? where Billy is trying to get stuff off the mantle with a broom and Tony and Angela walk in after just going to a parenting class where they were told to never use negative words to discipline a child. Tony and Angela scramble to come up with a word to make him stop and Tony yells, “Broom elsewhere!”
