i fucking love the idea of broville, honestly. huge ass open world minecraft map where theres no single objective at all & youre left to your own devices, there isnt anything guiding you to anywhere except for what looks interesting to you from a distance. the place you start at when you first boot up the map is a hub where you can choose anywhere from the whole map to teleport to as your first location, it doesnt drop you somewhere in the larger map designed with being the first location in mind. anywhere can be the first location.
you put on relaxing music in the background and let the world lead you to whatever looks interesting to check out. theres an end, but reaching it is not a linear process, theres one type of portal that takes you to the end but its duplicated across various spots in the world so you can stumble on the "end" randomly, just as open and free as everything that came before it.
theres still a progression but none of it is linear, you can complete shorter (1-3 hour) challenges to get the good stuff to ward off the monsters better alongside whatever stuff you got from that one random house you just passed by.
and all the while this world is conveyed as a complex, flourishing, living society with multiple connected areas and lore tying them all together under one unique whole. but you're the only person there. everyone else is mysteriously gone and there is no explanation why, leaving you the sole person to explore it after everyone else was hit by the rapture.
combine all of that with a myriad of environmental sounds, distant horizons, & shader mods to fully enhance the experience further and it becomes a wholy memorable world worth exploring to the fullest. i want a full original game like this.
