Sometimes I feel like I’m being punked when I see people talk about Harper and Eric’s relationship. Does it give father- daughter vibes? Yes, but that’s not it. There’s layers. For Harper, it gives very much mentor-mentee. Harper is trying to suck all applicable knowledge out of Eric’s brain and use it against him if given the opportunity. Sometimes it gives that Harper wants to best Eric or “lil bro” him. Throw the knowledge he birthed into her back in his face. However, much like a child with their father, Harper can be extremely vulnerable with Eric.
For Eric, it gives very much mentor-mentee with ¿sexual confusion? I think it excites Eric to have someone try to “lil bro” him in the way that Harper does. While watching season 2 I said I thought Eric had a humiliation kink. I also think he has a kink for having his authority challenged. I feel if Harper were to give Eric the opportunity to screw, if he didn’t jump at it he would at least heavily consider it. There’s Freudian layers to their relationship.
I’m gonna do a rewatch bc I know I have more thoughts.
