As you probably already know Oakland Athletics catcher Bruce Maxwell — the first and only player in Major League Baseball to kneel during the National Anthem to protest injustice — was arrested back in October 2017 on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct at his home in Arizona.

The A's sent out a statement of support after Maxwell's action during the national anthem.

Oakland Athletics catcher Bruce Maxwell, who hinted at such an action earlier in the day, knelt during the national anthem before Saturday night's game against the Texas Rangers.
Maxwell, a 26-year-old catcher from Alabama, tweeted Saturday that in the wake of President Trump's comments Saturday night to "fire the sons of (expletives)" in the NFL who kneeled for the anthem, that "This now has gone from just a BlackLives Matter topic to just complete inequality of any man or woman that wants to stand for Their rights!"

Maxwell, an Athletics rookie, had said on Twitter that President Trump’s criticism of anthem protests by N.F.L. players would prompt other athletes to kneel.
Taking a knee has now moved to baseball, as Bruce Maxwell of the Oakland A’s became the first MLB player to kneel during the national anthem. The team also issued a supportive statement about the gesture.
I’m going to be really curious to see if more NFL players decide to make the protest tomorrow in light of Resident Rumps “sons of bitches” comment, and if more MLB players do it as their season winds down.
