{Of course a corrupted Gem had found Howlite.
So soon after any kind of interaction with Garnet, too. Anyone else might have chalked it up to an unfortunate aura the Crystal Gems put out, maybe some kind of twisted karma that bled into anyone they interacted with. Garnet knew better than that.
The world was full of coincidence and she understood it more than anybody.
Garnet had been idly toying with the device Steven had given her to create her online social media outlet, relaxed on the sofa and waiting for him to wake up. She was going to make him breakfast, considering she was home in the morning; a situation that was often not the case. Breakfast wasn’t in the cards, however. There was work to be done.
Through brief calculations and the ever-present help of her Future Vision, Garnet pulled herself from the sofa and situated on the Warp. The nearest location was about twenty, thirty miles out from Howlite’s actual location; definitely not the farthest she’d had to traverse for a Gem, but not a walk in the park either. She had better get moving.
The Warp chimed as it sung to life, dumping the Gem out in the middle of nowhere in nearly an instant. Now, she only had to get walking.}
{Garnet managed to do the trip in about fourty-five minutes. Every second wasted was a risk of the corruption reforming and causing more damage and destruction.
Cautiously, Garnet closed in on Howlite’s location.
--Hopefully she’d gotten here in time.}

yeah, i wrapped it up in a blanket and i’ve been staring at it for a few hours.
Good. Keep an eye on it, I will be there as soon as I can be.
garnet! that bat that stole my totem! i think it was one of your corrupted gems.
This message must have come before you defeated it.Is it still within its gem?

{Garnet had never been drunk before.
It was some sort of special occasion, which one she could no longer remember. Gem bodies were nearly indestructible, capable of handling intense pressure, temperature, and mass amounts of stress-- but alcohol was in a category all to itself.
There was nothing quite like it back on the Homeworld and Garnet had been unprepared.
Even now, as she unsteadily braced herself against Howlite, she could feel the euphoric waves the human substance was washing over her. A wide, crooked grin pulled at the sides of her lips, stretching the dark-purple flush of her cheeks. Powerful, drunken hands grabbed the sides of Howl’s face, locking it there as the fusion closed the spaces between their lips in a slightly too-overzealous kiss.
Everything was just so wonderful. Everything was lovely.}

no not really, just wanting to confirm. it’s been a while since i’ve interacted in any shape with another gem.
I deal with them every day. You’re not missing much.
hey... garnet. you're a gem, right?
Trust.Any reason you’re asking?
A pleasant night to you, new follower. I extend to you the kindest of greetings.
