Horror veterans Kane Hodder (Hatchet, Jason X) and J. LaRose (Saw III, Insidious) have joined coming-of-age slasher Julie, the co-directing
SURPRISE!
This is without hyperbole the number one creative announcement I've been waiting to make my whole life. I made JULIE! Anyone who knows me well knows that this is my ultimate passion project, the script that is closest to my heart of anything I've ever written, a coming-of-age slasher about teen wallflower blossoming into a sarcastic, gleefully evil force of nature. JULIE is in essence about a girl who realizes she might be the worst person in the world and it's the best thing that ever happened to her. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to keep my mouth shut about, not only since filming this past December, but over the last three years of development. I could not be more grateful to Q, my co-director and producing partner, on seeing the potential in this story 13 years ago and then obviously picking the script up in 2023 and shepherding it since. We could not have made this movie in the amount of time that we had if it weren't for all those conversations Q and I had over the last couple years talking every possible angle of our shared vision, to the point that when we finally got to filming we'd already been completely in synch and locked in for ages. Haley brought Julie to life in a way both deeply surreal and exciting. I have dreamed about this particular movie more than any other thing I've written and yet I could not possibly have asked for a better cast or crew. Everyone brought it. I can't wait for people to see this movie, but then again, I've waited 20 years already, so apparently I can. I made a f***ing movie with Kane Hodder, guys. Happy (belated) Friday the 13th!
