This was a fight Lorian knew he was ill-matched for. Bruxae were nimble, not a trait his school excelled at, and so he’d prepared himself as best he could. The silver blade held at his side glimmers iridescent with the wine-colored oil coating it, just as the rotten taste of necrophage blood still coats his tongue. This was not a proper contract, but a request from a man who’d bled out in front of him on the steps of a tavern. He’d followed the splatter back to her lair, but a question lingers in his mind.

“...why did you not finish him off?” He asks, following her with his gaze as she stalks back and forth. “And please, tell me your name. If one of us has to die, we should know who killed us.” Gods willing it would not come to that. He had a brother he promised he would safely return to.

spring, by far, but particularly spring in the midwest, because texas spring is basically summer and it’s horrible. but i love the cooler weather with the sun out and all the flowers aaaaa
