dad!bryn here to wreck my life

i think bryn would be a good dad even tho he never really had a dad and killed a lot of people because fundamentally he is uncorrupt and has a willingness to adapt.

let’s begin with him allowing Kid to explore her surroundings and grow:

bryn would not be mad when he is painting a yellow accent wall in the living room and she knocks over a can of paint with her chubby three year old legs and then proceeds to track paint all over his new hardwood floors until he catches her by the stairs where her small yellow handprint still remains

it, in fact, begins a small tradition where every year on her birthday she gets to pick a new color and leave a new handprint up on the wall along the stairs showing her growth through the years

it’s really fucking cute bc he’d have her infant palm print from the birth certificate made into a stamp so he can have that at the very bottom of the stair case.

aLSO, a six year old Kid, wildly brandishing her yellow (again, her choice) safety scissors and exclaiming that she is here to give him a haircut, which then leads to him sitting on the floor of the bathroom as she stands on top of the toilet and going to town

imagine a bryn, sitting at the dining table (that has 6 different chairs surrounding it because they couldn’t decide which design they liked best and it allows for Kid to switch it up every day if she so chooses to) reading the newspaper across from Kid working adamantly on her science fair project.

:( bryn reading bedtime stories - actual books from the adult and kids section of the library - in a monotone voice to lull her to sleep :(((

kid then moving on up to read bedtime stories to him.

BRYN THINKING ABOUT HOW MUCH KID HAS GROWN BC SHE USED TO ONLY HOLD ONE OF HIS FINGERS IN HER TINY LITTLE FIST BUT NOW SHE RUNS AHEAD WITH DOG AT HER HEELS

kid teaching bryn how to use an iphone 6plus bc finally a phone that will fit his hands

kid sending bryn emojis and him sending them back to her instead of questioning why she is texting him when she is supposed to be in class :((((((((((

bryn’s camera roll is just pictures of kid and dog

mostly pictures she takes in the first place

bryn’s phone would literally just be the default apps with no other apps :/

bryn’s only saved contact would be Kid

bryn still writes phone numbers down on a piece of paper that’s tacked to a corkboard/whiteboard-calendar that Kid changes every month

bryn getting a home surround system so kid can blast music whenever she’s downstairs

the argalls not having a landline

idk why this makes me sad. it think just saying ‘the argalls’ makes my ehart pang a lot

bryn being robotic to a fault and as soon as Kid starts racking up paperwork he buys a fireproof 4tier filing cabinet with all of her important documents / art projects / photos of fathers/mothers day gifts she has given him in order of year and they are dated bc he is just that kind of guy

of which she later color-codes one summer when she’s kind of bored but doesn’t regret not going to summer camp because she doesn’t want to leave her dad alone

all of the “details” of their father/daughter imessage thread being different selfies of her pulling funny faces

actually, i want to go back to kid not wanting her dad to be alONE

ITS SO SWEET IM BURNING

bryn preparing snacks for when kid brings friends over

all of bryn’s mismatching furniture looking like the house of an eccentric widowed billionaire instead of an average man cave bc he always included Kid in the decision making :(((((((((((

bryn being honest about what happened to kid’s mother from the very beginning so she never wonders why she doesn’t have a mother like everyone else

bryn always ready to pull out the photos of kid’s mom and being willing to answer all the questions she has

bryn going into a pier 1 while Kid is at school to buy a picture frame

back to kid not wanting her dad to be alone, as she gets older and ready to leave for college she tries to set him up on dates and stuff

i wish i was dead

her being like “dad, this lady is coming over for dinner” and then afterwards her grilling him

bryn being oblivious when people are hitting on him bc he’s not interested

what if bryn is asexual and i never knew

he’s not repulsed by sex, even enjoys it, but it’s not a priority of his since the urge was snuffed out of him as an adolescent
