The ADA and Love Language

Heyyy so I realized I haven’t written any headcanons for BSD in a while so here ya go <33 also trying a new format. Reader is gender neutral!

CW: mentions of suicide cause of Dazai

The love languages that you would show the detectives, and how they would come to fall in love with you even more (feat.: Dazai, Kunikida, Atsushi, Ranpo & Junichiro)

Dazai

Receiving Gifts: Okay, so we all remember that scene from WAN right? It may have been exaggerated, but Dazai is not one to be show appreciation, let alone receiving gifts!

He doesn’t deserve it, he knows he doesn’t, and he thought it was a cruel joke life was pulling on him again when you approached him at his desk with a wrapped box. Or when you gave him with flowers after work, or when you gave him something he’s been eyeing as he was staring down the water, getting ready to make another attempt…

How can anyone come to be grateful for a monster like him? He’s undeserving of love, he’s undeserving of your love- but he can’t find it in him to turn you away or to get rid of the items. The good people that he does-did- have in his life always leave with a grisly reminder. But then you smile at him and say such kind words that he finds it hard even for him to doubt, and that he promises to not let that same fate happen to you.

This may be the first time that Dazai is truly baffled and left speechless, but he cherishes everything that you give him, keeping it close as a reminder that he does have someone in the little time he has left in this world.

Kunikida

Acts of Service: Kunikida appreciates everything you do for him. He already has a heavy workload and responsibility in the agency, so having someone who wants to genuinely help in both in and out of the office threw him off a bit at first.

He insisted that he could do it himself, but when you already have it done and wiling you do more, he feels a heavy weight lift off his shoulders. And he feels his heart race when you bring him lunch, new pens, and even a spare notebook.

Kunikida is like the backbone of the agency, making sure everything is running smoothly and in place. He’s the one that makes sure that everything is taken care of, but it does something to him knowing that you’re willing to take care of him too with a smile on your face.

Atsushi

Quality Time: Atsushi was lonely pretty much his entire life, miserable and abused in the orphanage. He thought that would always be the case, eventually dying alone as he felt like he deserved it.

But when the agency came into his life, the same loneliness that was once present on a daily basis went away. And when you stayed close by his side through it all, he started to see the world in a new light.

He felt bad at first- he didn’t want you to slow you down or feel like you had to waste your time on someone like him. He didn’t really have anything to his name besides the small apartment and the little money he makes from the agency, so how can he be so selfish to take your time when he can do nothing in return?

But you never complain when you spend time with him, even if it’s just sitting outside the agency stargazing on the roof. Or if it’s taking a break in the cafe, or even walking home while the sun sets. You still flash him a smile regardless of what you’re doing together, even if it’s the most boring thing in the world.

Atsushi feels grateful for this new beginning, and he doesn’t feel as alone anymore with you.

Ranpo

Words of Affirmation: We all know that Ranpo loves to be praised. He expects it on a daily basis for all of his hard work- even if he barely lifts a finger and it’s no difficulty to him- he’s pretty much the reason stuff gets done around here! So of course someone better thank him!

Besides from the President’s praises, he craves them from you the most. You always compliment him on his intelligence, his skills, his looks- pretty much everything that he does (as it should be), but he also appreciates how you aren’t doing it in a way to suck up to him. You genuinely mean what you say.

It’s not a secret that he doesn’t have an ability like his colleagues, but he didn’t want any pity. He doesn’t need it- he’s one of the most essential members of the agency. He doesn’t doubt himself, but it does something to him knowing that someone has their entire faith in him so easily. Even if he doesn’t have a flashy ability like the others, you still encouraged him every time.

Ranpo may play it off with his smugness, but he really does soak it all in each time. And it does give him some motivation knowing that you’re his number one supporter.

Junichiro

Physical Touch: Junichiro isn’t a stranger to physical touch (with what we’ve seen from his…sister?), so he has no issue reaching for your hands whenever he feels a need to. It brings a sense of relief and peace to feel your warmth to know that you’re still here and by his side.

Granted, it’s not a constant need to touch you- but he does it so much that he doesn’t even realize he’s doing it until he feels you squeeze his hand in return. It’s subconscious at this point. Holding hands, an arm around the shoulder, hugs- the list goes on and on. He still blushes like he’s back in the first stages of crushing on you (he can’t help it!)

Your touch is comforting to him, and after a particularly rough day, he really craves it.

Junichiro sometimes even touches you in disbelief. Every time he’s able to hold you in his arms, he can’t believe that he’s able to have someone like you in his life.

Junichiro has one of the most dangerous ability out of the whole agency and if he were to ever snap- WHEW everyone in trouble 😳 I ended up going with a modern AU only because I want to do yandere!junichiro headcanons that go into depth using his ability. Reader is gender neutral!

Dream’s Spooktober 2021

Everything Junichiro has done is to protect you and Naomi, the two people that he holds dear in this world. The only two people that matter.

He made the message loud and clear for everyone: he would burn the world down if it meant that you two would be safe, be happy, and he meant every word. No one else mattered but you two, his lover and his baby sister, and he’s willing to do anything to prove that.

And he did. Many, many times.

That’s why you’re able to live with them now, why you can all be happy together. It’s perfect, he thinks. All that he could ever hope and wish for in this world. He gets to see you every second of his day now, Naomi gets to make a new friend, and he can protect you both. He always thought you guys would be the best of friends, and it put a smile on his face whenever he daydreamed about all the trouble you two would try to put him through.

So why are you acting like this?

“Goodnight big brother! Goodnight (Y/N)!”

“Oh- goodnight Naomi! See you in the morning!”

You stayed silent.

“…(Y/N)? What’s wrong? Naomi said goodnight and you didn’t say anything.”

You still kept quiet, trying to keep your trembling under control but failing. Junichiro can see the horrible frown forming on his dear sister’s face, the hurt and confusion in her eyes with you ignoring her- that won’t do.

“(Y/N), you’re not being very nice right and you’re hurting Naomi’s feelings. Why don’t you say it back.” The crushing grip on your waist showed that he wasn’t asking.

“Go-goodnight Naomi.” You even showed a smile of good faith, even if it was hurting your cheeks with how forced it is.

“Goodnight (Y/N)! Sweet dreams!”

When he checked the locks on the door, he could hear you choking back sobs and he sighed. He doesn’t understand what has gotten into you lately. He thought that you would already be settled in after helping you move in with them, but maybe you still needed time to adjust? But it’s been weeks and you’re still being so hostile, so closed off of them both. You were so excited to finally meet Naomi too after hearing him talk about her so much, and now you act like she’s not even there. What went wrong?

It was disappointing, but he’s patient.

Even as he settled in next to you, wrapping his arms around your waist and trying to wipe your falling tears, he thinks that he just needs to give you more time. You aren’t used to having someone care for you like he does- no one has ever come close to the love that he has to offer you- the love that you truly deserve. But you don’t have to be scared! Junichiro will never dream of laying a finger on you if it isn’t in a loving way, and he would give his life before he lets anything happen to you. No one else can do that for you. No one will even have the chance to try.

All he needs in his life is you and Naomi. And all you need is him and Naomi.

And he won’t let anything get in the way of that.

You’ll come to see it that way eventually. You just need more time, and he has nothing but time for you.

If only you could see what he sees, but that’s okay. Everything will fall in place like it should, you’ll see.

You hated staring at his peaceful expression, like everything was fine like before. Like he wasn’t the one to subject you to this Hell.

But you hated facing away from him too.

Because whenever Junichiro finally went to sleep, when you didn’t feel his eyes bore into the back of your head and instead felt his deep breaths hit the nape of your neck, you still shivered in his grasp and tried to hold back the more tears that threatened to fall.

You didn’t know what was worse: staring at the face of your psychotic lover with bloodstained hands or the rotting corpse of his sister that was hiding in the darkness of the room.

You couldn’t escape either of their gazes in the dark.

Soft Junichiro Dating Headcanons

When I tell you that this man is a MESS over you

You’ve been together for so long but you still make him so flustered on a daily basis 

He is just head over heels in love with you. Like he has no idea how he’s gone this long without you honestly, and it shows in his actions how much he wants to make up for lost time

It is a MUST to kiss before either one of you have to leave to go anywhere. He may have a small tint on his cheeks sometimes, but that’s not gonna stop him

He gets so embarrassed with excessive PDA (as we’ve seen from Naomi), but he loves holding your hand and he won’t ever turn down your affections (ie. Kissing you duh). He’ll just prefer the extra stuff to be saved for home

100% his love language is acts of service, no matter how small it seems like to you. Were you hungry? Let him cook your favorite for you. Too lazy to get up and get the remote? He’ll get it for you (not without teasing you though). Had a rough day? He’s listening while cradling you in his arms. Cold? He’s already giving you his hoodie and you didn’t even have to ask

He once gave you his sweater when you guys were home and he almost died when you did the sweater paws at him

Also big in gift giving too! Granted he doesn’t have money like some Port Mafia executives, but he still manages to get you things from time to time that are so meaningful to you (I mean they always are). Sure, he knows that you’ve been eyeing this necklace and he’s been saving up for it, but he also knows that you’ll love anything he brings for you (or atleast that’s what you tell him every time he does bring something home)

You know how in the Agency when they have nothing but downtime they find little stuff to do/make to keep themselves entertained (or rather Dazai and Ranpo find something to keep them entertained and then rope everybody else into it)?

Well you end up keeping everything that he does make for you

“I would kill everyone in the room and then myself if something happen to these.” He thought you were joking but you weren’t lmao

It’s not seen like he’s doing something amazing, and he can only laugh every time you express your thanks (even if it’s with extra kisses). Junichiro looks at doing acts of service for you like it’s not a big deal, because it’s not in his eyes. You’re his partner and he fully loves and supports you, so why would he not go out of his way for you?

He is a SUCKER for cuddles. Likes being the big spoon but he doesn’t complain when he’s not. Sometimes he needs to be held after a long day at the agency, y’know?

It reassures him that at the end of the day, you’re still here with him, alive, still loving him

Also DATE NIGHTS >>>>>>>>

Junichiro is fine with whatever you wanna do on date nights, he’s not really picky (and his main focus is just seeing you smile) and anything you guys do together is fun for him. He won’t lie though, whenever you guys do decide to go out to a really nice restaurant once in a while, he’s just- he’s so star-struck every time he sees you dressed up

But you guys save the really special date nights for special occasions (ie. your anniversary, birthdays, or after coming back safe from a life threatening mission like the whole Guild/Cannibalism situation). So your date nights consist of a mix of just staying home and finding whatever to do or just going out to do something simple. Whether you guys are playing around in the arcade, going to get some ice cream, staying inside and cooking together, watching some cheesy movie, or just walking around in the park, these moments are always so special for you both

He has to say though, his favorite kind of “date” is where he can just admire you. Seeing that twinkle in your eyes whenever you win or your favorite ice cream shop has your flavor in stock, having you tug on his hand when you’re just so excited about something nd can’t wait to leave, or just you snuggling into him on the couch. Those are by far his favorite kind of dates

(Honestly he admires you every day, but it just hits different when it’s just you two)

You don’t know it, but he waits for you to fall asleep first, no matter how much his eyes are fighting to stay awake

Even if you don’t somehow end up in his arms when you’re sleep, he still has some form of contact with you. It’s usually your pinkies interlocked

You’re just- he’s so grateful to have you. Every day he wakes up, he turns so that you’re the first thing he sees in the morning. It motivates him to try his best and to come back home to you in one piece, ready to wrap his arms around you like always

“Juni, you’re back!” Hearing you call out with your laugh will never get old to him nor will it ever stop the butterflies that it gives him

He just really loves you and doesn’t know what he would do without you

Ango

So you two were both excited about today

You were beyond ready to feel the sun on your skin, the sand between your toes, and for all the activities you guys can do together!

He was relieved to finally spend some time with you and possibly get some work done in peace without being disturbed

Wasn’t getting into the water, sadly. He did want to get some things done, and he can’t work if he’s soaking wet. You were a bit disappointed, but you understood and he promised that he would give you his full and undivided attention right after he’s done typing this last report

Although you have threatened to throw his laptop and himself into the water if he does one more report-

Shopping was fun surprisingly, and you can only laugh at how meticulous he can be with everything, even with something relaxing as this

You had a feeling that you guys may have overpacked a bit, but you can never be too prepared (or atleast in his eyes)

Ango is perfectly fine with just resting underneath the shade and getting some work done while you go enjoy yourself. He’s content with just seeing you having fun, that’s more than enough for him- but you refuse to leave him be

But he couldn’t even pretend to be upset with you. You even dragged him off of his folding chair and demanded begged that he joins you. What kind of man would he be if he didn’t grant your requests?

(Honestly he couldn’t say no to you, especially when you get that specific pout on your face. It’s a weakness of his)

Your jaw dropped at his sand castles. Seriously, you would have never thought sand castle designs can be so intricate

“(Y/N), it’s not that impressive nor is it difficult. If you want, I can show you exactly how I did it. Here-”

Cue Ango being unintentionally romantic by coming behind you and placing his arms right onto of yours to guide you

Seeing you happy makes him happy, and it puts a smile on his own face

And he couldn’t stop blushing at the swim wear you picked out. You always look so stunning, but the way that the sunlight is making you glow is just making his heart beat faster than usual, and it’s kinda making him lose his focus to finish this report…

He’s not complaining though

This beach day was much needed, and he’s glad that he was able to spend it with you. And he actually had fun, and it wasn’t as pointless as he thought beforehand. Dare he say he would do it again, and without his laptop next time

He needs to make more time for you in general, but he’s also planning some surprise beach days in advance. Maybe looking into going to a private resort. A very private resort where he can show you just how much he truly appreciates you, just the two of you

Ranpo

I SCREAM YOU SCREAM WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM

But really it’s just Ranpo screaming for ice cream. And he’s not screaming, but he is whining to the point that you’re about to really start screaming if he whines for ice cream one more time-

When I say Ranpo is a man child omg

The only way to convince him to deal with the heat for today was the promise of the frosty treats which you would give him as long as he doesn’t complain so much

(Really he was still coming with you either way but he wanted to guarantee that he was getting a lot of sweets today)

But anyways, you guys definitely share ice cream together even if it’s messy on your end

He may or may not have offered to lick it off of you

Shopping for bathing suits were a hassle, only because Ranpo can be so picky. You don’t know how long you guys spent in there going back and forth, but the shop owner was ready to kick you out at some point

But hey, you guys got some cute swimwear out of it! Even if Ranpo wasn’t planning on swimming (which kinda bummed you out but you weren’t super surprised)

He still looking good tho

He doesn’t want to be in the sun (he honestly believes that he’s gonna melt like his ice cream), but the umbrellas big enough to make sand castles underneath it, so prepared to be amazed!

Just kidding, halfway through he fell asleep, and on you no less! But you’re not really mad

Ranpo is lazy, but he does like to talk and people watch. Prepare for speculated stories about random strangers, which are surprisingly entertaining and actually making you laugh out loud. The made up “deductions” about these people are so ridiculous that you can’t stop laughing, and Ranpo can’t hide his smile so much because of you

You did however had to stop him from throwing hands with the seagulls because they kept trying to steal his snacks, which made you laugh harder

He loves being the main reason that you’re happy, and this is stroking his ego right now (while also making him love you even more if that’s possible)

He sticks to his word and isn’t swimming, but he is floating in a tube which gives you a devious idea

He already knows something is up when you waddle up to him and ask to float with him in it. “Nope! You just want me to get wet. If you’re trying to prank me, you’re gonna have to try harder than that.”

“Ugh fine. Can you atleast hold my hand then, party pooper?”

He pretends to think about it, but he guesses that he doesn’t mind holding your hand if you’re that desperate-

You ended up “slipping” and took him down into the water with you. When he did sit back up, spitting water out, popsicle off the stick and floating beside him, you should have took that time to run

You definitely should have ran when his eyes opened fully, then darkened, but it was too late

You couldn’t swim fast enough before he grabbed you. For onlookers, you looked like a sweet couple just spending quality time floating in the water together, but you knew just what kind of danger you gotten yourself into now

“I think we need to have a chat somewhere more private.”

It led to an all out war, which lead you to being held and tickled until you could spit out some type of apology, and even then he wasn’t letting you go

After your ultimate defeat, you both laid out underneath your umbrella, stuff already packed and ready to go, reflecting on the day. You’re shocked to hear him suggest that you guys come here more on your day off (or just come here more despite work. He solves cases so fast that he can take a day of not working to come here with you)

Ranpo knew what your little plan was from the jump, but he decided to indulge you anyway (even if it meant losing his popsicle, rip). He got his treats, he got to spend the whole day with you uninterrupted, and he had fun. Today was a success, but he can’t wait to get home

You still had to make up for your little trick, and his offer is still available from earlier~

Junichiro

You guys are both so pumped for the beach! It’s like a well deserved family day

You guys packed pretty well too: popsicles, water, extra towels, umbrella, beach ball- pretty much more than enough to entertain yourselves for the day

You definitely snuck in water guns too, but he didn’t need to know that until later

He’s down for pretty much anything too. Beach volleyball, building sand castles, playing Marco Polo and getting splashed everywhere- there’s never a dull moment with you guys together!

Matching themes for swimwear! It doesn’t matter what type you got, you got matching prints

You guys were THAT couple lmao

After another game of volleyball, you guys decided to get ice cream. This man was confused when you just got one, and his ears were turning red when you said that you can share

He was even more flustered when you started to eat it, your tongue sticking out to lap up the melting drops escaping from your lips

He knows that you’re his partner but still! It just feels so intimate

You bout to make him act up

Splash wars! And y’all do not hold back

Okay he still does because he doesn’t want to hurt you

You two did have a water gun war though, and he didn’t hold back on that

Even though he cheated by using his ability

You guys did everything and anything that you could think of, and right when you were about to start packing, he handed you a flyer. The beach was doing a special fireworks show, and he wanted to know if you wanted to stay and watch, which DUH, of course you wanted to stay!

While the fireworks lit up the sky, you told him that you have to come back ASAP, and he just chuckled at you. He was already planning another beach day as a surprise for you, but he didn’t want to spoil anything just yet

Junichiro loves spending time with you, and this is one of the best opportunities to do so. It’s a chance for you both to just have fun, to see you stress free, care-free, and to see you genuinely happy. Why would he want to miss out on something like that? He would be dumb if he didn’t schedule another beach day

Hearing you talk about going to the beach more together means that you still see him being in your future, and it brings him relief to hear that. That means that you’re both on the same page, and he’s reassured that he’s not alone

He couldn’t see his future without you in it anyway

OMG THIS IS THE LAST PROMPT‼️‼️ as long as it took this was so much fun to do and I wanna thank you guys for sending in requests for it 🤧🤧 I decided to go with Junichiro on this only bc he’s underrated and I have officially started the Junichiro fan club 😌🧡 reader is gender neutral!

SN: so I watched clips of BSD Wan and the fireworks episode was just the best imo so this is loosely based off of it (but this doesn’t contain any spoilers)! Also the end is cheesy but I couldn’t help it 😅

Prompt: “Shooting star, make a wish.” with Junichiro!

“Are we almost there, Juni?”

“Mhm! Just keep walking forward- but watch your step!”

“It’s kinda hard to do that when, you know, my eyes are COVERED.”

You just heard him laugh awkwardly as you both continued walking...somewhere. You have no idea where you’re going but Junichiro claims he had a huge surprise for you and that you guys had to leave ASAP. It was your official one year anniversary today, and after pretty much spoiling each other all day, he lead you out the doors blindfolded as soon as the sun was set, even using his hands as extra coverage.

You couldn’t help but feel like a kid with how excited you were getting. You don’t know what exactly could be planned, and every time you would make a guess, he would just laugh and tell you to be patient. You really had no clue what it could be, and he’s been tight lipped about it the whole time!

“Hmph, you better be lucky that today’s a special day or else I would’ve made you spill by now. We both know that I have ways of making you talk-”

“Okay, we’re here!”

He counted himself lucky that you couldn’t see his flushed face as he untied the blindfold and removed his hands. As your vision adjusted, you realized that you’re...in the park? Under a large tree, the small leaves and petals slowly falling and being carried by the breeze. He already had a blanket set out for you both to sit on, and he gently lead you to sit beside him. Maybe he just wanted you two to end the evening here, just savoring the moment with you. You aren’t complaining-

“It should be starting any second.”

“...huh? What should-”

You gasped.

Against the darkness of the sky, what seemed like hundreds of bright colored sparks illuminated the air. One after the next, more and more fireworks were being set off, casting a glow on your faces. All of them varying from the usual circles to different animals (there’s even one shaped like a tiger, you have to remember to tell Atsushi about it). They were just breathtaking to gaze at.

“Wow..this is...wow!”

Junichiro was too busy soaking in the awed expression stuck on your face to pay attention to the night sky. “See, you just had to be patient- Woah!”

He couldn’t even finish teasing you after you practically tackled him to the ground. He was so worried that you might think of this as lackluster, boring, but he feels so relieved to know that it’s the opposite. You peered up at him, “Juni this is amazing! How were you able to do this?!”

“Well, I couldn’t have done it by myself. Naomi was wondering how I was going to surprise you, and everyone overheard and decided to help out. But”, he tore his eyes away. “Do you really like this?”

“Of course! Why would I not? You did this all for me, how could I not love it! If this is what you’re doing just for our one year, I’m definitely gonna have to step my game up for next year!”

He just smiled at you, you’re always so sweet to him, even before you got together. It’s one of the many reasons why he fell for you, you always make him feel like he’s found a piece of himself that been missing for a long time. Outside of all the craziness that the agency brings, he’s grateful that it gave him the chance of having you in his life. You’re so important to him, he doesn’t know what he would do without you now.

He knows that you guys are still young, but he doesn’t see himself being with anyone else but you. Maybe in a couple of years, he’ll have a shining ring on your finger-

“Juni look! Shooting star, make a wish!”

The fireworks were slowly coming to a stop, and he snapped out of his daze as your grip tightened on his hand as you pointed up to the sky, and wow- it really was a shooting star, standing out amongst the dwindling sparks in the air. Gazing over at you, his heart fluttered and he realized something.

His wish already came true.
