Music Video!
Idea one
A single camera tracks events between two locations in a single shot, revealing a hidden story at the end of the video, imagery reflecting the lyrics and tone of the song
Idea two
One man splits into multiple versions of himself and starts miming singing and playing the different instruments in the song
Idea three
A suspenseful drama about a man following a woman in the dark, only to find that she’s a witch who curses him and watches him be devoured by creatures of the night
This is my first practical piece for my BTEC Creative Media Course.
Unfortunately there has been a lot of bad press on the Muslim Community lately. There has been some horrific stories about hate-filled violence towards them. I made this film with the intent of making people think.
I would really appreciate it if you could all give this a watch, I have worked hard on it for around 3 months.
Special thanks go to my Actor @something-dunnb Thank you for meeting with me repeatedly and putting up with me making you do shots again, and again, and again... I appreciate it! xx

Crime Drama Codes & Conventions
Programs that fall into the genre of Crime Drama mostly follow a set of codes and conventions or rules. These conventions help the audience identify the type of program they are watching. The format of crime drama is a series that usually last for six to eight episodes. In terms of narrative, the episodes are linear, which means that the events shown in order. They are also a realist narrative because they are on crimes that happen every day and attempt to show the lives of the police officers and how they deal with the events that occur. However in some cases, such as in Life On Mars, the narrative is anti-realist because it contains events that won’t be possible such as the girl from the television coming alive and talking to Sam Tyler. In most cases, the episodes contain one criminal case that they have to solve by the end, this is the main storyline of the episode and they have a closed ending once the case is solved unless it’s a two-part episode like in Whitechapel where the first episode’s ending is open. The series contains micro-narratives that help support the overarching or main narrative of the episodes. These narratives may be a relationship between two characters, this would help support or feed into the main narrative because the case will affect the relationship or the relationship with effect the officer’s work.
With the characters, the police officer of higher rank are usually the smarter ones and think about the case more than their lower rank officers who want to rush into everything to prove themselves and their worth. The female characters are usually the smarter officers or the victims and the male characters are usually the "dumber" officers or the criminals. In the Wire, Detective Kima Greggs is the smarter officer who thinks about it in a logically way and goes by protocol whereas her partners, Ellis Carver and Thomas Hauk are considered the dumber officers as they use brunt force more than their brains and forget about protocol in the earlier episodes.
Crime dramas are mostly filmed in a handheld style. This style helps add to the atmosphere and creates pseudo-realism for the audience so they can feel like they are involved in the scene. Another way that crime dramas create pseudo-realism is the use of fly on the wall shots that make it look like they are peeking around the corners and are watching the action from a distance. A majority of the sound in a crime drama episode is diegetic. This means it’s part of the scene and wasn’t added during the editing process. Some non-diegetic sounds such as songs are added and help create a dark and eerie atmosphere.
