"EVELYN NESBIT"
by Btoy
Born near Pittsburgh, Evelyn Nesbit began working as a fashion and artists' model in her early teens, in Philadelphia and then New York, and was idealized as a "Gibson Girl." Going on to become a chorus girl and actress Nesbit epitomized the American ideal of the early twentieth century. Spanish photographer turned stencil artist and muralist, Andrea Michaelsson, aka Btoy, began to paint in the streets in 2001 and as she's refined her style @BaseElements says her work has become largely based old photos of female icons from the 1920s to 1950s. In 2017 Btoy created this tribute to Evelyn Nesbit on Rue Esquirol in Paris 13e, joining the ranks of the now more than two dozen artists who have created a series of massive murals for the @Galerie_Itinerrance curated Street Art 13 project. @btoyglitch/
