Bulletproof Boy Scouts honored the 2020 Van Fleet Award, recognized for their contribution to the development of US-Korea relations (official) 08.08.20
Group BTS won the '2020 Van Fleet Award'.
The Korea Society, a non-profit organization aimed at promoting understanding and cooperation between the United States and Korea, announced the winners of the Van Fleet Awards of the Year, including BTS, on its official website on the 7th (US time).
This year, all of the US veterans who fought in the Korean War and the Korea Chamber of Commerce (KCCI) will receive the Van Fleet Award together with BTS.
The Van Fleet Award was established in 1992 by the Korea Society in honor of General James A. Van Fleet, who served as the commander of the 8th Army in the U.S. during the Korean War, and contributed to the promotion of understanding, cooperation, and friendship between the two countries. It is given to individuals or groups.
BTS was selected as a Van Fleet Award winner in recognition of their contributions to the development of Korea-US relations, bringing a fever around the world through music and messages.
Major winners of the Van Fleet Awards include former US President Jimmy Carter (2000), former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger (2009), former US President George W. Bush (2017), former President Kim Dae-jung (2007), and Ban Ki-moon Former UN Secretary-General (2004), Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee (2006), and Chung Mong-koo Chairman of Hyundai-Kia Motors Group (2009).
The Korea Society will hold the '2020 Van Fleet Award' online on October 7th to meet the era of'Untact' caused by the Corona 19 crisis, and BTS will deliver their impressions of the award through video.
