[ based on this post ]: the truman high school reunion took place at a decent hotel, organized by a group of former students who used to be one of the popular kids back in the day. they waited for 20 years to track down and find as many of the classmates from truman high as they could and send out invitations to their reunion party. a fair amount of those responded and attended the reunion, and many had a relatively good time sharing their stories. it was a night they would keep forever in their memory, but their high school experience wasn’t over just yet. the next day, when all these former students woke up ( some by the sound of their alarm, others by the shouting of their parents ) they realized they were younger, that they were teenagers who had to get ready and go to school. however, their memories, are still those of their late thirty-year-old selves.

Knuckles rapped uneasily on the band room door, Claire’s brown bag lunch clasped in one hand as she waited for a response. Even after all this time, it was amazing how fast it all came back to her; the layout of the halls, the names of the teachers and the few students she’d known to begin with, the ingrained rhythms of coming and going with the baring alerts they’d had the poor sense to dub ‘bells.’
And, woven in bright red strings among all the rest, the rare person she’d felt she could trust.

like her sisters before her && other relatives as well, daphne was another member of the blake clan to attend the truman high . having a long list of relatives with successful high school experiences && even better school records left the redhead with quite the amount of expectation on her shoulders --- && she never fell behind her sisters’ shadow . being a straight a student with a reputation that preceded her , daphne quickly became one of the most popular kids . those who weren’t familiar with her personality or grades had certainly heard of her last name , && those who hadn’t heard of probably familiar with mystery inc., a gang that consisted of the redhead plus her best friends , && their habit of solving mysteries around town . being a blake , it was clear from day one that she was now high school royalty , && that soon earned her the title of princess --- as well as the common knowledge of how daphne would definitely be the next prom queen !!

when daphne received the invitation for a long awaited high school reunion ( at least on her end ) , the redhead could barely contain her excitement . despite the multiple classes she had missed due to mystery solving habits && a few bad experiences , her teenage years were definitely something she took pride in , && the opportunity to see a few familiar faces again sounded incredibly nice --- except for one or two , of course . everything went smoothly at the event , && surprisingly enough , it even renewed her energy to go to work next day ; which she would have done , if it hadn’t been for the fact that daphne was now seventeen again .

THE PAST -- popularity , money , social status. it was easy for andrea to have gained the perfect popularity status in high school. everything was easy. boys wanted to be with her & girls wanted to either be her or be with her. albeit the popularity status , the looks & the fact that she was friends with everyone who was everyone , andrea never pushed anyone aside unless they deserved it. flirting was one of andrea’s trademarks and it was easily the reason why she always got what she wanted ; teachers or students. but after a relationship that hurt her a little too much , she’s weary on who she let in.
THE PRESENT -- after graduating high school & leaving pretty much everyone behind , andrea went for what she stood most for. an experience in college pushed her towards becoming a sexual assault and abuse lawyer ; wanting to seek justice for those who were ignored by the law and who weren’t getting the justice they deserved. she’s far from the girl she left behind on graduation day.

Claire’s gaze lifted from the class schedule sealed to the inside of her binder with a couple pieces of clear packing tape, the Home Ec teacher’s introduction to that day’s activities slipping abruptly from her attempts at attention like water through a sieve. Thankfully, she did remember her station, notable due to its location directly below the room’s fire alarm. As for her partner...
"Hey, Elena,” she greeted the other girl with relief, glad she remembered at least so much as her name. But there was more than that, too. She remembered hearing about the accident with Elena’s parents, the car crash that had left her and her brother orphaned in a single night. But had that happened yet? She couldn’t say, not with the future feeling as much like memory as the past. Leaning against the counter as she scanned the recipe printout before them, Claire settled for a more moderate topic of conversation. “Um... How was the game?”
After the morning she’d had, gym came as a welcome relief. Claire had fallen easily back into the ease of walking without the support of her forearm crutch, but she’d forgotten just how good it felt to run.
Yet even this break from having to directly face the teens and teachers around her was short lived, their warm-up ending at the coach’s whistle and direction to break up into teams of two, which, for Claire, was always the worst part of any class.
Her gaze swept the girls assembled in the room, many of which had already paired off with their friends. She paused for a moment at the sight of Jacqueline, who she remembered had been a bit of a loner, just like her. Still notably giddy from the rush of running for the first time in years, Claire closed the distance between them with a laughable rush of butterflies in her belly that had always come part and parcel with this sort of thing.
"Hey,” she greeted, still pleasantly winded from the warm-up run, “―Got a partner yet, Jackie?”
