Ukraine’s ‘Bucha witches’ volunteer to shoot down Russian drones

About 100 women train to target Russian weaponry in the Kyiv suburb that captured the world’s attention at start of war.

"My friends died, my colleague who was a teacher... there's just not enough fury," - Alina, who recently joined the mobile groups of Bucha volunteer guards.

Meet the "Witches of Bucha", the first all-female mobile anti-aircraft fire group in Ukraine. Varying in age, education, and life experiences, these women volunteer and take turns so they can balance both service and civilian life. With men joining the armed forces, women have had to step up to fill the space that men normally occupied.
