we consider that just full on south and hillbilly, i’ve noticed. like, illinois specifically? anyone living south of I-80 = southern to us. it’s a reall odd phenomenon

which is hilarious because people from the actual south would never agree with that assessment

oddly enough, when i go to colorado, i get something similar. there’s an almost, but not quite southern drawn in some of the south west parts of colorado and i pick it righhhhhht up

wild! I've never been to colorado but my parents lived there for quite a while so I wonder if I'm hearing any of that in their speech patterns

when you say you pick up a midwestern accent, what kind of accent do you mean? like im from the lower suburbs of chicago, and while i have some of the accent from that, the majority of my dialect comes from what's dubbed the 'midwestern non accent'

southeasten rural ohio in my case, the part which is functionally kentucky. full-on drawl lol- I visit family there and it kicks right in.
