kissing a fool
Today I bring you the mental image of John Walker training
Shorts, no shirt
Kim Petra's Treat Me Like a Slut blasting on the background
Bob, Ava and Bucky staring. They want him so bad.
I have a firm belief, and you can’t change my mind: These gifs completely give off the vibe of Walker saying something, Bucky agreeing—and then suddenly REMEMBERING that it’s Walker who’s talking, so he has to play it off. Because, excuse me—since when is he agreeing with Walker???
And in the end, he just gives up—after all, agreeing with Walker is the least of his problems, considering he’s already sleeping with him.
EVERYPNE HEAR ME OUT.NOW.

Winteragent headcanons (platonic and/or romantic)
Genuinely, whether this is just a friendship or a deeper relationship, I think there is so much potential for angst with a satisfying resolution
Hate to be this guy repeating this for the nth time, but the Steve/John parallels are there - John's "on your left" in the Thunderbolts movie was such a satisfying moment (unwittingly saying exactly the same thing as the man he was trying so badly to emulate for so long only to ruin himself chasing an unattainable goal) and the idea of him saying something along the lines of "I could do this all f*cking day" to some villain while Bucky is within earshot, and Bucky looking over to see a silhouette that's both achingly familiar and distinct from the one he always used to be a half-step behind is so appealing to me.
Repeats of John's behaviour from the tower fight against Sentry - he doesn't think, just does without considering the consequences - Bucky is categorically not happy with that behaviour - "even if it does prevent injury to a teammate, Walker, it doesn't mean it should come at your expense!" (Said in an increasingly exasperated tone each time it happens).
John doesn't stop to think about it, after all, why would he? If he can take the hit instead, he will.
Firm believer that even if you have a specialised helmet to block the blast of a grenade, it will not block all of the impact of the explosion - do with that what you will :)
Bucky ends up calling John punk, and idiot, though that is said with an increasing sense of affection as time goes on
John swears a lot (no surprise there), and Bucky ends up parroting Steve's "language" more than he thought he ever would
Bucky can see elements of his past self in John - he wonders sometimes what would have happened to him if he hadn't had Steve when he first came back from being the Winter soldier, what that lack of necessary support (even if he was dishonourably discharged) did to Walker's psyche, especially with the super soldier serum bouncing around in there dialling everything up to 1000%.
Attack dog John Walker - Buck snaps out a single "Walker" and he does whatever it is near immediately despite any verbal complaints.
Conversely, Bucky feels responsible for the team in many ways, and by extension for Walker, but in a slightly different way to the others
Sparring, hehehehehehe
John acknowledges Sam as a better Captain America than him - despite his faults, he can see exactly where he went wrong (perhaps even too self-hating about the events surrounding Lemar's death and his stint as Captain America), and admires Sam for doing what he did
Slightly twisted sense of solidarity, both having spent time in Steve's shadow - "No, Walker, we're not at all alike." (They are, in the ways that twist at the core of his being, and hurt )

music: all the pretty girls, by Kaleo
What if I posted a little video showing that John has been in love with Bucky even back when Bucky was still in love with his unrequited love, Steve? Because in my head, that’s how it is — so it’s canon to me…WINTERAGENT, with Steve haunting the narrative.
• I even posted a cropped version of this video on TikTok, but it just loves to block my music choices :')
Distraction
Yelena: okay, someone needs to distract Walker so we can set up his surprise.
Ava: yeah, SOMEONE.
Bob: uh-huh, someone...
everyone looks at Bucky
Bucky: ah, damn it, fine.
Bucky walking into John’s room
John: can I know why you’re getting naked in here?
Bucky: we’ve got at least two hours of peace — I put the whole team through a really tough training session, and I came to do some cardio with you.
By the end of the day, they might not understand Bucky’s methods of distraction, but they certainly couldn’t argue with his excellent results — Walker wasn’t seen again for hours and hours.
