Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

A Memory of Empire by Arkady Martine

A Desolation Called Peace by Arkady Martine (Teixcalaan duology)

Harrow the Ninth by Tamsym Muir

Babel by R.F. Kuang

4. Did you discover any new authors that you love this year?

Yes! As well as a couple of the authors above (Arkady Martine + Tamsym Muir) I also very much enjoyed C.L. Polk's Kingston Cycle and Foz Meadows' A Strange and Stubborn Endurance and the Manifold Worlds duology and would read more of their work. (I actually picked up the Manifold Worlds books Because I really enjoyed the other book they had written)

17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?

Yes definitely, I was surprised by how emotional Project Hail Mary made me feel. I absolutely went into A Strange and Stubborn Endurance thinking of it as a "guilty pleasure" fun romance read and instead fell in love with the worldbuilding and story. Those are the two the stand out to me the Most but definitely read some good books this year.

Probably a longshot since it seems like there's jo way to grab a copy of this book since the orders closed, but is there any chance you would have spare camp chitaqua keychains left over for purchase once all the orders are sent out? I would love to own one (and the book, but I missed that deadline :( ) beautiful work, nonetheless!

hey there, you said you tweaked yaya han's trench coat pattern, and I was looking to start there on my coat since I know jack-all about sewing in general. Was the specific pattern you used the M7644 one?

That’s the one! Its pretty easy to work with. I just removed all aspects of the collar, and nixed the sleeves. I definitely recommend making a mock up in junk fabric to tweak the fit, because most big company patterns add ease into their patterns, so some areas of the coat might come out larger than you would think. Once you tweak your mock up, you can take it apart and use that as your final pattern!
