hi ash! today a friend of mine taught me about loud and soft/quiet hands and it’s changed me for life. i recently watched all of yellowstone and now i have to rewatch it so i can see how every character’s hands are. this came up bc my friend saw a gifset of hangman riding the horse at stadium stampede (i think?) and she said his hands were loud and i was like ??????? loud hands???????????? and well. i just wanted to tell you. and also if you have any insight to hangman’s horse riding mannerisms. love u 🩵🩵
I love hangman but he definitely rides like a kid who grew up on a ranch and never actually learned proper riding techniques 😄😄😄 he holds the reins weird when he rides another horse on camera, might be the pale one in the promo video (might be the Appaloosa when he has the blue and white pearl snap, I can’t remember off the top of my head which) and it’s also why the black and white paint almost threw his ass off when it lurched forward in the stadium stampede, although I’ll give him that wearing the belt and the awkward weight placement there was also hard to adjust to as someone who doesn’t frequently ride.
he can’t help it, his family had horses so he didn’t have to take lessons where an instructor would constantly be yelling about his hands, his heels, his back, his toes, his seat, his posting, etc etc. he just got to jump up and ride whenever, I doubt there was any kind of formal instruction. he definitely wasn’t a super horse nerd despite growing up on the farm that had them.
I actually find his actual lack of horse knowledge through the eyes of a horse nerd kind of adorable 😁
