speaking of actors who are exceptional at fully embodying a character and leaving traces of themselves out of it: sarah michelle gellar
im doing my first buffy rewatch and am now on season six. in that first episode buffy is gone, but we still have the buffybot. sarah michelle gellar is Right Fucking THERE the whole time, like she is Literally playing buffy to some degree with the robot.
and even though she's RIGHT THERE you viscerally feel buffy's absence. i got the same feeling watching sarah michelle gellar play faith as buffy. buffy was gone for those episodes as far as im concerned, and you miss her too!
creating a loud, obvious void where your character should be when you're still in the scene, still dressed as your character (a bit different with the faith episodes, but the principle stands) shows how talented sarah michelle gellar is as an actor.
