6: Favorite song that mentions or includes a bug?

Probably “Numb Little Bug” by Emi Beihold! (Look it up, it’s sooo good!) Its not about bugs, it’s about anxiety and depression but it mentions bugs and I love it.

27. What first attracted you to bugs as a study or hobby?

I've loved bugs for as long as I can remember... but I started actually studying them during the beginning of lock down. I saw someone raising beetles on instagram and it had never occurred to me before that one could do that! So I got really excited and wanted to get some for myself but I figured I should study first so that I could give them the best possible care. So, that's what I did and I haven't stopped learning!

45. An endangered bug you wish got more attention?

Probably the Palos Verdes Blue butterfly. I only found out about it recently, even though I live very close to the Palos Verdes peninsula. It's a type of blue butterfly that ONLY exists in that one small spot on the southern California coast. Apparently it's considered the words rarest butterfly but I've never heard anyone talk about it!

46. Favorite bug related video game?

Hollow knight! I haven't actually played it but I've watched others play it and it looks like so much fun! Its on my "to be played" list for sure.

Definitely 'Buzz, Sting, Bite' / 'Extraordinary Insects' by Anne Sverdrup-Thygeson (Same book, two different titles.) Its witty, funny (like actually made me laugh out loud), and informative!

1. What's your favorite bug? (if you really cant choose, name top 5)

I'm going to go with the latter option because it really IS a difficult choice!

Coleoptera (beetles), Cicadoidea (cicadas), Mantodea (mantids), Lepidoptera (specifically moths), and Phasmida (leaf insects).

8. What's the neatest bug you've seen in person?

I'm going to assume this question is referring to a live specimen... Probably Leaf insects!

24. Favorite piece of bug art?

Probably this original vintage Coleoptera print from the early 1900's that I have hanging in my livingroom!

17. what's a bug you have a tattoo of or would get a tattoo of? (bonus points for pictures)

I currently have four bug tattoos, but I'm definitely planning on getting more! From left to right, top to bottom: Hyles lineata (white-lined sphinx moth), Bombus pensylvanicus (American Bumblebee), Dynastes hercules (Hercules beetle), and Cotinis mutabilis (Fig-eater beetle). I love all of them so much!
