my niece knows that i love bugs so when she found this big dead wasp she put it in a cup so she could bring it over and give me it 🥺🥺🥺
I'm having trouble IDing it though! I live in Western Australia, if anyone has any ideas please let me know! it's a yellow hairy flower wasp! thank you @gloriouslyscentedwizard for the ID!
found a bunch of framed specimens in a thrift store up in canada, and they were a fuckin bargain! customs would not have appreciated me trying to bring any home though, and i always wonder about the ethics of how these big guys are actually obtained...

saw this poor big spider victim in an abandoned web and had to take it down and inspect it - i had never seen something like this in the flesh before and was fascinated to find out what it was!
I noticed it's big forelimbs and remembered that i had seen a picture of something similar recently. i tried looking up "mole bug" and found that it's called a mole cricket!
I'll pop a picture of a one live and happy below for anyone curious!
