Day 210: sustenance. survival.
made my wife and myself some burrito bowls for dinner. Keeping our bodies going. Hourgh I'm so tired that's all I can manage after work right now.
I think I may only have one more Artfight piece in me before it ends. Like. Maybe one more simple snail this weekend idk. I will miss it and I wish I didn't have the 2 most draining weeks I have ever had at this job while it was going on.... 😭
Tinglepost 403: Widow's Gay
I'll get this out of the way first, I haven't watched the show, so my review is limited in its value because I am surely missing important context.
That being said, this isn't like, for example, "Stranger Pounds" where I really felt all the references I surely wasn't getting. While I would surely enjoy it in a different way if I had the full context, this is a fun enough story that I enjoy it on its merits as its own tingler.
Whether or not he's a reference to an existing character, the protagonist of this one, the mayor of Widow's Gay, has a kind of personality I've been seeing a lot in tinglers lately. He's an optimistic person to such an extreme that he illustrates the limits of positive thinking.
It makes sense that this kind of character- positive in a toxic or unrealistic way- comes up in different forms in Dr. Tingle's writing. The world's greatest author himself and his art are a strong positive force in this world. Yet, he shares a world with people who turn their positivity into unrealistic magical thinking, be they proponents of manifesting or preachers of prosperity gospel.
Such a character is perfectly suited for the classic set-up present in many tinglers, of the protagonist primed to ignore the problem he will face, until it escalates to the point where he must take action. This one escalates to something in the neighborhood of a fuck-or-die scenario (though, unlike the usual spins on that erotica trope, this is one that's unambiguously consensual for both parties despite the initial pressure). Most importantly for me, this tingler has one of my favorite things in all of the Tingleverse. Sex with a living object so large that their anatomy must be navigated like a location! It's a particularly exciting example of this type of Tingleverse sex scene, that fittingly caps off the escalating action of the story.

Man I'm gonna miss Artfight when it's over 😭 I used to love going on the Furaffinity Forums (back when those were a thing) and doodling folks' requests. Artfight has a similar energy and I didn't realize until this month how much I missed it!!!

I have had a tendency in the past to dismiss/downplay it when someone mentions that I've read every tingler like it's a big accomplishment. And part of that is, well, I'm not the one who WROTE >400 stories in the span of around a decade, that's what's really impressive imo
But I just realized that part of that is, to me the difficult part was the groundwork of IDENTIFYING every available tingler and where I could find it. That was actually hard work. (Including dealing with the bank putting my credit card on hold 3 times because I kept making these tiny purchases that looked suspicious from a bitch who rarely spends money).
Like, once I had handy links/files on hand it was extremely easy. Usually I'd just read one while I was having lunch every day instead of scrolling twitter or some other bullshit (an unintentional mental health improver). It was a little treat I didn't have to go out of my way for day-to-day. It's like someone shipped you 366 small single-serve packages of all sorts of different snacks/candy you like, and told you that you had to eat them all within the next year. I don't think most people would find that difficult. Putting together the assortment of snacks would be a task though!
Re: last reblog I just want to say I KNEW IT!!!!!! OR at least I knew it was a very strong possibility that there were some unreleased tinglers out there.
Like, when I was preparing to read every tingler in late 2023 I was over here with my cork board and red string tracking down the full scope of the Tingleverse. You see, the ebook list on ChuckTingle.com has hundreds, but did not have the full list of available tinglers. (This may have changed since, I haven't checked recently.) So, there was the count of tinglers on the official website. And there was my count of tinglers from tracking down some that weren't listed, and unavailable ones like the old humble bundle tingler (part of a bundle you can't buy anymore). But! Curiously! Every once in a while Dr. Tingle would post something mentioning the number of tinglers he has written, and it would be higher that the count on his website (expected) and higher even than my personal count from scouring other sources (interesting!).
So, the possibilities were, either:
-I missed some published tinglers despite my best efforts (worst option. Did not want it to be this one.)
-Dr. Tingle has his own list which may include some of the anthologies that have original text even if they aren't full tinglers (example: the recipes in "Handsome Sentient Food Pounds My Butt And Turns Me Gay")
-Dr. Tingle has a folder of tinglers that he's getting the count from, which includes duplicates of a rare few that got edits (such as "Gay T-Rex Law Firm: Executive Boner")
-THERE ARE UNRELEASED TINGLERS. (I knew this was the case with the unreleased book "Not Pounded By My Book "Pounded In The Butt By My Non-Fungible Tingler That Is Literally This NFT" Because Of The Current Catastrophic Environmental And Ethical Impact"" references but there would have to be a few more to account for the discrepancy)
So, I wasn't going to make too much of a fuss about the discrepancy (I'm a fan, I'm a hobbyist, I'm not a prosecuting attorney), I asked about it in a way when I got the opportunity to interview Dr. Tingle but he wasn't ready to say anything at the time, so I let it be. however. ngl. I feel great that this was confirmed and I can rest easy with an explanation for the different tingler counts! My spreadsheet is fine!!!
