I’ve got a massive Gundam model backlog that I’ve dubbed “Hobby Mountain” so I’m gonna start a thread where I work through it. Gonna be snap-builds for the most part, I can always do touch-ups later!

I think I have a new favorite amphibious mobile suit! The Juaggu is honestly really adorable.
1983 is testing my seam removal abilities…
I do like how chonky this old Prototype Gundam kit is. Having to plot how I paint parts as I glue them together is a neat challenge, and seam removal is kind of zen???
I saw there was a vintage V2 Gundam up on one of my usual hobby sites. While the show did not keep my interest I had to snag this kit for one reason…
Look at how small it is!!!
This vintage V2 is still 1/144 scale, it’s just that small! Oddly, the modern V2 kit from the HGUC line is actually about 1/132 scale, meaning it isn’t accurate alongside other 1/144 suits (unless it’s alongside other “miniaturized” 1/132 scale suits). So what I’m saying is that I am a huge nerd
✨Beam Saber painting ✨
I actually really like painting the beam sabers on older kits. Clear beam parts are gonna win out for stuff like wings and shields and general effects, but I like trying out airbrush techniques to turn these toothpicks into a big ol’ laser sword.
Felt like garbage earlier this weekend, but I managed to get a Gunpla project done
Painted a Zaku II F2 in Char’s colors so now I basically have a “Char’s Zaku Ver. Ka.” Presently working on a 1/144 Gundam Ver. Ka to display with it, so look forward to updates on that when I get the knees made
WIP pics. Red base coat *really* helped the final colors pop!
Very glad I picked up the old HG Zeta Gundam, this little goober matches the anime design better than the 2017 version.
Like, the head has some nice chonk to it, not sure what else to say.
It also has a pre-molded beam saber hand, which is gonna require some paint, but the sculpt is actually very nice.
WIP Kämpfer. I managed to bleach the plastic while doing seam removal on the shoulders, so I painted them with Titans Blue 2 to salvage it. Works really well actually??? Will be painting all the thrusters next!
