Quill only draws the same 5 body types and it’s rlly funny to me…we’ve got:

• Girl with an extreme hourglass

• Fat girl

• Buff guy

• Buff girl

• Guy built like a girl

save for maybe like 3 outliers

And people say that Vivziepop's character designs are not unique 💀 Which, I do sort of agree that maybe Viv should've made the main characters have unique shapes and sizes not just the backgrounds...

I think Quill should try draw unique body types, like, this guide on printrest could help both them and Vivzie

Anyone else find it Ironic that Idol would say this and yet, when I do give them actual criticism or express to him my concerns about their behavior they end up blocking me on not just my twitter account but my Scenecore and normal art account?

Again, even after being blocked by them, I'm still a fan of his work especially Monsters & Girls and to prove that I'm such a big fan I even brought those plushies that were on Makeship. /gen

When I made the #idolomantises critical tag, it was NOT meant to be made to put Idolo down or for people to harass/attack them, my intentions was so anons and myself can express our concerns or criticisms towards him, kinda like how people use the Vivziepop critical tag to sometimes express their criticisms towards Viv and her work.

If Idol wants to talk things out to me, I'm happy to do so and maybe we can settle our differences.

Probably a controversial "Hot Take", I honestly preffer how Viv approaches darker subject matter like abuse compared to how Quill/Bug/Idolo has done it.

I personally come from a background were many people in my immediate family had to deal with horrific abuse (won't give details). I'd rather things like abuse being shown for what it is and tackled head-on (Disney's 1950s Cinderella I think is a really good example, highly recommend The Take's video on it on youtube) as opposed to how... Idolo basically skirting around the topic with kiddie gloves.

The canvas version of Bugtopia shows that Cale (not unlike a certain owl...) has an abusive wife he ran away from. In my opinion it was handled terribly. We never are given her name or her face, and in execution she comes off as either a BPD caricature or an example of Idolo being too terrified of writing a women who is an unambiguously bad person, as he left the alleged "physical abuse" the character committed so vague I was more upset at being talked down to as a reader.

Is Viv a master at it? Absolutely not, and she's even admitted before shes not great at writing, but as a storyteller I respect her more than them because her stories treated me more like an adult equal in comparison. Stella trying to backhand-slap Stolas did so much more for me than what Idol has openly admitted is them "fixing" another artist's work in what's otherwise a saccharine sugarbowl setting.

Am I the only one who's starting to see a pattern of most of more masculine-presenting OCs of Idolo's being either hyperviolent aggressors or being on the ass-end of jokes, usually of the "lol, they're stupid/inept" sort?

There's Powers and Luvart plus their entire dynamic, the beetle husbands in Bugtopia regularly beat/degrade the crap out of eachother as kinky play, a farmer guy in the same comic is apparently too stupid to tell the sex and species of the animals he's herding, it's constantly made a point of how ignorant Sera is at sexuality and intimacy compared to her very fem wife, and all three jokes involving Adam are him being made uncomfortable.

There are more examples I believe, that's just from immediate memory. Sera especially never gets to have a cute "gotcha" or "win" moment with Lili, she's either dependent on her for affirmations or is the punchline of her sex jokes.

For an artist who complains about other artists not doing diversity "right", they pretty easily default to using the same stereotypes and tropes they berate others for utilizing.

... So, this should be a warning to his fans to NOT get attached to any of Idolo's OCs or stories. If you like any of their characters in a way they don't approve of, they're willing to fridge said OCs to spite the audience.

This is the kind of attitude I'd sooner expect from Andrew Dobson. I don't care what character it is; no creator blames and spites their supporters and comes out of it with any respect.

I mean, if they wanna remove some characters to balance out the world and such.. then he could, I don't think their doing this out of pure spite by what I read.

There's honestly a lot of conflicting messaging within Idolo's main content. One minute there's mature comics full of illusions/mentions of sex and kinky play or stepsiblings sharing sex toys... the next it's a bunch of kids at school, in a treehouse or playing princess. This tonal whiplash is far more egregious in Bugtopia.

These varying elements can all coexist of course, nor should artists be restricted to "just this or that", my issue is Idolo puts these altogether in ways that come off inorganic/awkward. I like Panty and Stocking as well as Bluey, that doesn't mean I think it's appropriate to show both all at once to the whole family.

Ironically, I'd say Helluva managed to put such elements together with far more tact. There's cuter flashbacks of character's childhoods as example, and still a lot of surrounding context that reminds the viewer it's an adult show like Paimon calling Stolas a bitch for crying. That passive abuse/neglect would not fly in most soft and safe children's media, however adults who had to deal with that growing up can identify with it.
