Despite what it might seem like based on how he acts, it’s not that Gavril doesn’t really care about people as a whole. In fact, he cares quite a bit about people, especially in cases like with Issa (where he feels protective of her after having saved her) or like with Poe (who is just too good for his own good and really, child, why are you like this????) In a way, he’s more of a defender/protector type than most would guess at first.

ISSA

While she is a SPECTACULAR flirt when working––whether as a distraction or in order to lure in a target––she is a disaster if she actually feels something for/likes the other person. As in, this:

(First date meme - Jai & Keelty) Of course Jai had said all the right things and made all the right jokes and sincere compliments, so now they were caught up in a bit of a flirt off. Just to throw her off track, after the most innocent expression he could conjure up - big brown eyes ever so shyly, almost fluttering - he said, “You're so tempting, but I don’t sleep with someone on the first date.” Although pro trained to beat lie detector tests, not even he could keep a straight face after that.

Keelty could think of fewer first dates that were more like the movies. He’d taken her out somewhere nice, impressed her with dazzling conversation and an assortment of compliments, and made her feel like that twinkle in his eye was only for her. It reminded her of why she enjoyed first dates to begin with: all the covert glances and exploring questions, pregnant pauses and inviting smiles. Everything was pointed toward one of their bedrooms, and that wasn’t just because of the drinks they’d had with dinner. She was surprised, therefore, when he began to speak. He’d certainly struck her as the spontaneous, non-puritanical sort…and then a faint smile curled up those tempting lips, and she couldn’t help but smile back.“Sleep. Is that what the kids are calling it these days?” she chuckled, reaching forward to run a finger down his chest. “Well, I cannot say I had any ‘sleeping’ in mind. That won’t be a problem, will it?” She batted dark eyes up at him, feigning innocence.

She divides her attention between the spider from hell and Jai for only a moment longer before she nods and backs out of the room to go retrieve the mentioned items.

In very short order––though she suspects far longer to the one actually in the room with the creature still––she returns with a plastic bin (one that has a lid) and a broom.

“Here. What you asked for,” she says, practically dropping the items by him and then backtracking out of the room and to the doorframe once more.
