If you’re like me, you’re asking yourself where has the summer gone! I can’t believe Labor Day is only weeks away, but the truth is...it is! You may already have plans or perhaps you’re just starting the planning process, but either way, the nation will have hamburgers and hot dogs on the mind very soon. Labor Day is one of my favorite holidays, because it includes many of my favorite things: grilling out, family, friends, camping, swimming and basically every summer activity one can think of.
As your cook-out gets closer and you’re crossing your “t”’s, dotting your “i”’s and marking off that ever-growing to-do list, I imagine you may be asking yourself: how should I store the bread since we’ll be outside?
I say ... bun warmers!
If you’ve never used a bread basket liner before, I encourage you to try it! They’re really such a perfect solution to this problem. Linen bun warmers, and the cloth linen bun warmers specifically, can make your life easier. They fit perfectly in a basket or bowl so that you don’t have to worry about moving the bread into an inconvenient place just so it stays warm. Not to mention, since Labor Day generally means the great outdoors, the other component is protecting your buns and rolls from flies and insects! Not that I don’t want to share the world with these wonderful creatures, I just prefer they stay off my food!
What’s great about bun warmers too, is that you can reuse them for any special occasion, and the holidays are coming up! Just like you’re scratching your head about how quickly Labor Day is approaching, you may just be doing the same thing as Thanksgiving turns the corner. Linen bun warmers dress up a table, or in the case of Labor Day, a picnic table, nicely and easily, and they’re so easy to use, you just fold the four pieces over the bread, and your problems are solved!

This is a great example of 1950s or 60s kitsch. It’s an electric “bun” or bread warming basket! We actually found several of these exact same design (and fabric) warmers on our antiques subscription service. Very cool!

Eating hot dog cold is an irony in itself and hot dogs don't taste good when eaten cold, that’s why every respectable hot dog vendor should have a hot dog warmer at least. Hot dogs are America’s favorite snacks and sell well, giving the hot dog stand owners enough profit to recoup their capital in just a few weeks. Selling cold hot dogs won’t make your product sell-able and you will mightily lose your business and your capital with it.
