rewatching gotg1 bc duh and now im wondering what would have happened if nebula HAD been the one to go to xandar to get the orb from peter. If she had ended up in the jail with them all, would she have been put on her path of redemption and family a lot sooner? Would there have been earlier starbula 👀👀👀👀

The following is from a bileven soulmate au im working on, where soulmates get the same marks and wounds and feelings the other is receiving. the beginning is the end of the first section where Billy gets the 011 tattoo when El is born and he’s 4
more under the cut:
As Billy lays against the kitchen wall — his body curled into itself for protection, anger building in his belly at the helplessness that accompanies it — his eyes can’t help but track his father’s bloody knuckles and his mom’s bloody lip and her bruised cheek as they continue to scream and fight.
He can’t help but notice that their marks aren’t mirrored on each other.
As his mom tucks him into bed that night, her eyes are filled with love for him, but bruised all the same. The 011 is completely gone by then.

Eleven is born marked. Or at least it feels like it to her.
All she’s ever known is pain — whether it’s the mark on her arm that says who she is, or it’s the dark bruises and welts that show up sometimes on her flesh and leave within a few hours. She doesn’t understand these moments, but she does know that sometimes after they occur, she’ll feel an intense sadness in her chest and start crying.
Papa doesn’t like it when she does that. He gets that look on his face that makes Eleven want to curl up and hide.
Instead, Papa will put her in that room.
Eleven hates that room.
Somehow, Papa never sees the marks though. Her paper dress covers the majority of them and when she gets her check-ups, luck is on her side because they never appear during then.
Eleven knows she’s not normal, but she wishes she was. Or at least understood why she was so different. She feels lonely all the time. Papa tells her that she is meant for great things. That she has a power within her that no one has ever seen before. That she will help make history. It’s because of this, he says, that she must be isolated.
Eleven just wants to know why she’s in so much pain. She just wishes there was someone out there who understood — someone like her.
