FUCK YEA LETS GO YEA BUNJI + DAZAI LORE (THIS IS GONNA BE VERY LONG. PREPARE.)

tw bc there is mentions of suicide, self harm, s/a (specifically csa)!!!! be careful while reading this, u dont gotta read it if that makes you uncomfy :D

ok firstly this is bunji when hes 33 (he is 11 years older than dazai :3) and he is dazai's brother!!!

when he was 10 his parents announced he was gonna get a younger sibling and he was excited, bc his parents are lowkey shit and hes always lonely💔 (mom is usually very sick and bedridden, barely sees her child unless the child comes to see her, dad is usually working and away from home) and then when he was 11, his baby brother, shuuji tsushima got born :3

right off the bat bunji absolutely adored his little brother, he practically became his parent, given how their actual parents rarely payed much attention to them both

bunji would take care of and teach his brother, he would feed him the formula, he would change him and he would try to comfort him whenever he was sad or distressed

shuuji was a very energetic and happy kid, usually just clinging onto and playing with his brother, and bunji was just a happy and supportive big brother, who tried his absolute best to keep his baby brother happy too

but one day their parents decided to hire some maids and menservants, because bunji and shuuji would have to take care of themselves most of the time, and their mother needed more care and help than just her 16 year old and her 5 year old.

the idea seemed ok to bunji bc....again he was still just a lil kid, and his brother was still in the toddler stages of life

the maids and menservants were pretty helpful, they'd clean, they'd cook, they'd do chores, and they would also take care of shuuji - like help him bathe himself, help him dress himself, help him go to sleep

a bit after their parents hired the maids and menservants, shuuji was a bit more quiet, and sometimes even flinched at sudden touches or noises, and he would hide from people more, bunji was confused, but he figured that shuuji was just trying to get used to the 'strange new people who live in our home' and he just tried his best to comfort and make his brother feel less anxious

sometimes bunji would have to scoop shuuji out of ponds and rivers near their home in their village- but hey, shuuji was still a very energetic kid! maybe he was out playing and he would accidentally trip into the rivers- plus, those rivers had sharp rocks and stuff in there so that's why shuuji had so many little scrapes and bruises on him.

bunji would always just dry dazai's wet hair and he would change dazai's yukata to a fresh new clean one, and he would bandage him up if needed

one day when shuuji was 8, and bunji was 19, bunji went over to shuuji's bedroom- just to check on him, y'know?? his brother has been more quiet, and has been hanging out in his bedroom more

he saw him writing in a little book- maybe his diary or something? bunji smiled and sat down next to shuuji and asked "whatcha writing?" shuuji quickly shut the book and said "nothing. you dont need to know"

bunji got confused, why was shuuji being so secretive? that was weird- "oh, c'mon, you can tell me, i'm your big bro" but still dazai refused, it escalated to a small argument, and bunji just went back to his own bedroom

he felt horrible, he had (pretty tamely) yelled at his baby brother, who very much didn't deserve it - he shouldve just left him alone, and he's never been angry at shuuji before... so he probably scared the poor lad too- he felt awful

after a little while, bunji went over to shuuji's bedroom once more- "hey, shuuji, i'm sorry- alright?- i didn't mea-" shuuji wasn't there.

well, bunji heard a door sliding open and closed earlier, shuuji was probably in the bathroom.

but... he felt a little urge, the little book was still there....

okay- he felt a bit horrible, but he went over and looked at it - he was expecting some silly, slightly embarrassing things- like maybe some crushes on other kids in the village, some little complaining notes about kids shuuji didnt like in their village- stuff like that, right? nothing serious

but he wanted to puke.

it was horrible. the letters to the diary were pretty childish, and vague, but it was about the maids and menservants. shuuji mentioned bleeding, weird touches and other uncomfy feelings he had about the servants. bunji hated it, he wanted to vomit- his brother was just a mere baby to him, this was awful. he didn't deserve it.

bunji had been sat on dazai's little bed- on the tatami mat, he moved to stand up, but the blanket underneath him kinda slipped and he looked back-

...there was blood, on the mat. it looked kinda recent.

bunji just felt sick, especially now knowing what that blood came from

he quickly got out of there- not wanting shuuji to think he breached his privacy- which he very much did, but he didnt want shuuji to feel even more horrible because of that

that night, bunji asked shuuji if he wanted him to stay and maybe tuck him in, and shuuji said 'okay'. he did just that, he didn't let shuuji out of his sight whatsoever.

...then some days later, bunji decided to ask shuuji, "why are you so nervous around the servants", and after minutes of hesitation, shuuji told bunji

he told him that the servants had touched him in places where bunji said he shouldn't be touched until he was much older. he told him that the servants told him that he mustn't tell anybody. he told him the servants made him bleed, and made him be uncomfortable, and then shuuji pleaded with bunji to not tell mother or father

bunji promised him, and he promised him that he would keep him safe and he would keep him far, far away from the servants.

...it apparently stopped when shuuji was 10, but the poor boy remained depressed, and silent. and he kept trying to hurt himself - by jumping into rivers and drowning himself, or by scraping his arms against sharp things-

eventually his parents realised their son wasn't just 'an edgy growing boy' but in fact- suicidal. when shuuji was 12, they decided to send him to yokohama. they said it was for him to 'straighten himself out' and 'get better' but, shuuji was pretty sure they just didnt wanna deal with him anymore

bunji was absolutely heartbroken by the decision, his little brother felt like his baby still- even if he was gonna be a teenager soon, but... no matter how much he argued with his parents, they insisted that they send him to the city- actually, they even refused to tell bunji where shuuji was going.

bunji helped shuuji pack his bags, and he helped him trim his hair, and shuuji revealed to him that he wanted to be called 'dazai' now. bunji didn't really approve of the name, but whatever- it made shuuji, dazai, happy...

dazai then went to yokohama, and bunji never heard him again. a year had passed, dazai hadn't been able to contact bunji at all, and bunji was 24 now, and he decided- 'fuck my parents, dude, i wanna go find my baby brother'.

and then he went on a journey, he would constantly ask people- 'have you heard of a boy named shuuji tsushima, though he prefers to be called dazai, he had brown hair and brown eyes like me and he should be this old now', but usually the response was 'i haven't heard or seen of him, i'm sorry'.

during his search for his baby brother, he found a man, named kafka asagiri (ANOTHER BSD OC OF MINE OO LALA THE YAOI IS UNSTOPPABLE FUCK YA) and he got a bit... attached to him, and he brought him along on his search - afterall the man was a bit homeless and he was lonely and sad- so why not take him along! plus, asagiri supported his search and journey... the extra help would be nice....
