hanzo doesn’t throw genji in the meat grinder AU he just drowns himself in soup

to practice an art as archaic as archery in this age of automatic gunfire and technomancy is impressive to say the least. how hanzo does it is beyond him, but the man makes it look so easy. maybe it’s actually not that hard. hanzo’s bow is certainly tricked out anyway, but whose weapon isn’t these days? and how convenient that the bow should be left unattended.
... hm, he has an idea. is it a good idea? no. is he going to do it anyway? maybe. jack typically keeps to himself, but nobody’s around to really know. he knows better; he really does. he stares at the bow and then at the door. well. why not?
he approaches the bow. gloved hands slowly marvel over the craftsmanship. it’s undeniably custom-made. how does the guy summon goddamn dragons onto the field? so many questions and not enough time! really, as luck would have it, the very owner of said bow just happens to walk in just as jack’s about to pick up the weapon into his own hands. ... oops?
“... i can explain.”

( HE WOULDN’T KNOW, can’t comment immediately, staring stoic at hanzo as if to read him instead of offering a placating word or adage. jesse’s reaped far more than what he’s ever sown as far as friendships are concerned --- maybe he’s just lucky, to be able to burn the breeze and be welcomed like rain after a drought every time he turns up, worse for wear and empty-handed. looking at hanzo, it makes jesse think. )
❛ like attracts like, they say. ❜ ( he sucks on the end of his cigar, exuding smoke. ) ❛ though i haven’t seen it happen, personally. ❜
❛ have to admit you’re pretty nifty with that bow of yours ❜ she sure as hell does not want to be on the receiving end of it. still, it is hard to imagine that someone is still using such old-fashioned weapon during this time and age ❛ but pray tell, any reason why you chose such outdated weapon ? ❜ @burdentocarry | starter call
it’s dark, night and late, and cybernetics can only carry a human mind and soul from sleep for so long. there is no need for lying down, so he remains sitting, legs crossed and hand and palm resting on the sheathed ryū in his lap.
so when a presence enters, his reactions are not unlike an awoken man; sudden and sharp. it’s the blink of an eye before he comes to a halt, blade tip touched to... hanzo’s throat. he doesn’t push forward, but he doesn’t pull back any, either.
“what are you doing here, brother? if you wanted me to end your grief; you’ve failed. again.”

❝ even now you still find a way to nose your way into my business. i would have thought you’d have no interest, brother.
switching into his native tongue is like a palate cleanser ; it’s facile and swift, mechanized words seemingly having more IMPACT in his speech than they would in any other language. he stretches, arms reaching upward without a sound. it’s feline and sleek, but his movements carry an underlying tautness as he regards the older man with an impassive visage -- despite his casing, genji is quite the eloquent man, but at the moment, it’s as if someone had put a stopper in his gears and RUST has flaked along his joints.
despite how assured he had been during their initial confrontation, this was a battle meant to be fought on different grounds with different weapons: wit and a fast MOUTH.
