When the first thing that arrives at your table is a full kitchen roll, you know you're in for a finger licking dining experience. That's how my lunch began today in Burger Meat Bun (@burgermeatbun), Glasgow's latest city centre burger joint. Although it's only been open since the weekend, the basement venue in Glasgow's West Regent Street was busy for a Tuesday lunchtime. First food to arrive were the Buffalo Wings. Served with a blue cheese dip, these spicy wings were authentic and tangy, if a bit on the small side. The burgers - a Big Cheese and a Smokin' Bacon - arrived soon after. Cooked medium rare in a brioche bun, it was immediately clear why the kitchen roll was essential. Burger juice! Thankfully the brioche bun held together well to mop up the mess. Lastly, the (triple cooked?) cheese chips were fantastic, covered in melted cheddar rather than a cheese sauce. So overall, this is a great addition to Glasgow's growing burger scene. I'll be back.
