fields of flowers in shades of yellow , teenage yearning , sun bleached eyelashes , tanned arms , the very shallowest of puddles , weakly brewed tea , sun filtering through stained glass windows , biting into an apple and its juices running down your chin , fingers sticky from the honey in your tea , looking at somebody with stars in your eyes , hanging on to her ever word , memorizing the look in her eye when she’s happy so you know when you’ve done something right , the innocence of ignorance .
after
being swallowed up by waters so murky that you can’t see your hand in front of your face , waking up in a cold sweat to scream your lungs out , uncertainty mingled with steadfastness , clinging onto your past life by your fingernails , seeing your face in the mirror and not recognizing the person who looks back at you , fearing the person who lives inside of you , the intoxicating feeling of knowing and still wishing that you didn’t .

little raven come to roost in her ancestral homeland, you’re not so little any longer. take pride in who you are, you have done what many others wished to have the chance at. play your remaining hand delicately, there is still some time until the next hand is played and you will never know the cards of the people you play with.
BEFORE. the first lesson a lestrange learns is their words ( though elisabeth’s first lesson came far before this, that she would be loved but she would never be favored ). corvus oculum corvi non eruit. a raven will not pick out the eye of another raven. in a way it’s like honor among thieves, given the way the belgian line was cast out of the family, but corvus the fifth was quite clear with his daughter that sanctuary was always to be given to other ravens. a nest to roost, if you will. it was a good motto, too, had he taught her that she was as valued as the rest. but that seemed to slip through his fingers, just like his daughter.
CATALYST. the death of corvus lestrange, masqueraded as a severe case of dragon pox that has left him bedridden for the better part of a year and a half.
AFTER. it is, until this moment, her life’s mission to make her father proud. she is perfect in every way but one: she is not a son. this same issue never seems to leave her father’s mind and at some point, elisabeth has decided that she’ll play by the rules that the rest of the world will set but corvus is no longer allowed to play referee, so she did the one thing that made sense: she ... removed him from the field. she would not be another daughter, moved around a board that she would never get to see, sold off to some man like a broodmare. she has lost all sense of innocence and still paints herself the blushing maiden her father once proudly displayed like an ornament on his mantlepiece.
GOOD AFTERNOON, and thank you for tuning in to the WIRELESS WIZARDING NETWORK! For our transmission today we’re pleased to present BURIAL SOCIETY’S sixth task –– dust off your phonograph and call forth your favorite records !
Our sixth task requests from everyone who is willing to do so to compose a playlist for their character – some of you may have already made one or more playlists for your character whether for inspiration or aesthetic purposes.
The goal of this task is slightly different, and will require you to make a new playlist.
Your task, should you accept it, is to create a playlist comprised of an even number of songs. Should you wish to do so, you may instead make two separate, smaller playlists for this task, but you must link them both together in your task post.
The name of the game this week is to imagine your muse’s life divided into two periods: ‘before’ and ‘after’. You may divide your muses life however you choose, but there should be a catalyst, strong emotional event, or sudden change to clearly mark the divide. That is to say, something must be different about your muse between the two periods of time.
( For example, if I made a playlist about Harry Potter I might choose to divide his life into sections of ‘before attending Hogwarts’ and ‘after attending Hogwarts’. )
One half of the playlist will be about or inspired by your muse in the ‘before’ period, and the other half will be about them in the ‘after’ period. You do not have to make an especially long playlist at all, even just a few songs is more than enough. BURIAL SOCIETY STAFF recommends 8-14 songs in total.
The task post must also include an explanation of the way you’ve chosen to divide your character’s life, and what’s changed between the two periods. You may also choose to explain each song’s meaning to your character’s development, or you can let the music speak for itself.
This task, like all tasks and prompts, is not mandatory and may be completed at any time.
Upon completion of this task, characters may deposit 50G per song into their vaults, in addition to the pre-prescribed task reward !
