It’s not always that you get to find a trunk that is both full of burls and also has spalting. I was lucky to save one from firewood when local cityhall decided to cut it. This turned into a big project with two new devices that I built specifically for processing wide trunks: a portable chainsaw mill on guides and rollers and a router flattener jig also on guides and rollers. The process of making a coffee table once I had both of these devices was quite straightforward and a national Russian TV channel aired this process within one of their DIY programs. I focused fully on the table top and spent minimal time doing the legs from rusty rebars. I attach some pictures of the end result and of the two tools that I built.
