Ichimatsu had done something he hadn’t done since middle school, a few months after meeting you; he picked up one of his old mangas- fruits basket, specifically. 

It was one of his guilty pleasures that he would rather die than let anyone know about, having hidden the series in a corner in the attic. He was fond of Kyo, specifically, partially because of his affiliations with cats and partially because he found himself relating to his general attitude and personality the older he got. He also found himself enamored with Tohru, but good luck getting that out of him. 

Ichimatsu would spend hours upon hours hiding away in the corners of the school library, finding any and every nook and cranny he could fit into and hide himself away to indulge in something that helped him to take his mind off of school, and family, and all that teenager shit. 

And here he was now, so many years later, curled up in a corner of the attic and skimming over the series again. 

As he flipped through the worn pages, his eyes would linger on Tohru, and Kyo, and the two of them together in certain scenes. His mind wandered to you, and how you and her shared some characteristics...and how he shares some characteristics with Kyo... and what it would be like, to be in this scenario with you. To fight for you, and to you to fight for him in turn. For you to stick with him, though thick and thin, despite how stubborn and pessimistic he can be. What it would be like, to potentially grow old with you-

The thought pulls a low, embarrassed whine out of his throat and he closes his book and hides his red face against the cover, closing his eyes tightly. God, he’s acting like a fucking teenager, head over heels.

But, if it’s for you...if it’s about you...then he doesn’t mind too much.

Not that he’d ever say that out loud.
