Choice rules our consciousness. I took the right turn onto the street going back to the main road to Swaziland. I wanted to avoid my friend Antonio who lives in the corner of the left turn going to the same road just a few steps ahead. Joking, I complained about the walk and as we walked along the main road I suggested hitchhiking as I made the gesture to stop a car. A truck passed us. Afterwards a car of kindred souls stopped and asked “Bushfi’a”? My amazing adventure started when they opened the door for me. We smiled and nodded our heads, accepting the lift. A group of 15 Mozambicans, who became my friends, annually drive through Maputo province and into the hills of Swaziland to Manzini City for Bushfire Festival gave us a lift and allowed me to enjoy their company. They rented rooms in a comfortable hotel next to a golf course and a gorgeous hillside view, which during sunsets shines with amazing cooper fog over silhouettes of trees that bring a magical feel to the town. The atmosphere eased my integration into the group. After socializing, we arrived to the festival to a great Freshlyground show. It was the best welcome a country has ever given me. Saturday, we prepared during the morning. Late afternoon we visited friends in town and then ate grilled meats at a restaurant in the valley located at the foot of a line of hills covered by a halo of sunrays, dancing Kizomba and Pasada poolside as we waited for the festival to start again. We took time to taste time to arrive just on time. When the time came, we brought our fire to an ótimo party that tempts me to stay in the country with the Perssoal. Dancing, laughter, and perfect timing characterized this weekend. Thanking the universe for its generosity, counting my blessings, and appreciating the luck of meeting like-minded spirits along my path, I can only say that life for me só tem mel. *Bushfire (Bushfi’a): Annual International Music Festival in Swaziland; Freshlyground: hip hop band; Kizomba and Pasada: look it up! **Ótimo: awesome; Perssoal: Group of close friends; só tem mel: [it] only has honey
