Do you think - email marketing is dead?
We say — Definitely not! At BirdEye, we use email marketing all the time to promote webinars and engage with leads who’ve dropped off for whatever reason. However, email marketing is definitely more difficult than ever.
Email marketing as a channel has become oversaturated. Chances are that you get tons of emails that you don’t open or just delete immediately. Right now as I’m writing this, I’ve got around 19,804 unread emails in my inbox (I should do something about that, I know).
Instead of using email, think about using text messaging. It’s estimated that texts have a stunning open rate of 98%. That means when you send a text, it’s almost certain that your customer will see it.
There are a few things you can do with business text messaging: send review requests to sites like Google and Facebook, promote upcoming sales or special events, and get appointment confirmations.
I know what some of you are thinking: is my phone going to be just as stuffed with marketing offers as my email? For everybody’s sake, I hope not. That’s why it’s important to add an opt-out feature. A common example that you’ve probably seen is to just text “STOP” to get a business to stop sending you messages.
But spam aside, text messaging can be a great tool when used properly. We see that customers are typically more than happy to leave a review after getting a text request after a visit to their local dentist. Since these visits usually happen once every few months, it’s not intrusive.
